Join to apply for the Heavy Equipment Mechanic role at Gray & Son Inc. Maintain production and quality by ensuring the operation of construction vehicles, machinery, and mechanical equipment. Provide expert level diagnosis, troubleshooting, and repair of various types of equipment at our jobsite. Job Duties Ensure operation of vehicles, machinery, and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines; following diagrams, manuals, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions. Locate sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation, listening for problems, and using precision measuring and testing instruments. Remove defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, hand tools, and power tools; examining form and texture of parts. Determine changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts and using calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments. Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments by using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges. Control downtime by scheduling and performing routine preventive maintenance techniques; monitoring compliance. Conserve maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results. Perform heavy electrical and computer repairs. Disassemble, inspect, and determine parts needed and reassemble to factory specifications. Interpret and utilize information from operating, maintenance, and service manuals. Interact with field and office personnel to answer repair‑related questions as required. Safely drive a service vehicle. Perform various other duties as assigned. Education & Experience High school diploma required. Trade school desirable. Minimum of five (5) years of direct experience working in a shop. Must have a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record. CDL a plus. Equipment in Our Fleet Caterpillar, Hitachi, John Deere, Hamm, Wirtgen, Komatsu, and Mack truck: Dozers, wheel loaders, track loaders, pavers, rollers, milling machines, graders, and excavators.
