Position Summary
The Architectural Design Manager serves as a front-line partner to the sales channel, leading the sales design team and supporting strategic opportunities from initial qualification through order. This role oversees complex, technical projects—guiding the discovery process, facilitating design reviews, and ensuring alignment with both customer vision and company capabilities.
By setting clear expectations early and collaborating closely with sales professionals, the Architectural Design Manager helps drive successful project outcomes while mentoring the team to deliver innovative, high-quality designs.

Duties And Responsibilities
Act as the primary liaison with sales professionals to understand project scope and customer needs, helping evaluate project viability. Lead the qualification and discovery process for SkyWays shade projects, with a focus on securing large, strategic opportunities. Oversee large, strategic, and custom projects from early sales engagement through order placement. Partner with rep channel or independently lead sales presentations and proposal development, emphasizing shade design solutions. Guide projects to align with internal capabilities, production capacity, and the strengths of the rep and their organization. Mentor and develop sales professionals and rep organizations in SkyWays products and processes. Work closely with LSI Regional Sales Managers (RSMs) to support and grow shade sales opportunities. Assist RSMs with project pipelines and sales forecasts to drive revenue and territory planning. Coordinate project resources by assigning designers and providing direction throughout the presales process. Deliver technical education and training to the sales channel, including SkyWays facility tours and rep training sessions. Identify market trends and product gaps and bring actionable insights to product development teams. Stay informed on competition, market trends, and localized factors to adapt sales strategies effectively. Ensure the right sales tools and resources are in place to support field efforts. Track and report on key sales metrics such as quote volume, turn times, and new product performance. Provide leadership and employee development, including coaching and performance management.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in: Business, Engineering, Architecture, Industrial Design, or a related technical discipline. Minimum of 3 years of experience managing consultative sales design, ideally in architecture, engineering, construction, or a related industry. Experience supporting sales teams by vetting project viability and guiding sales processes for complex, customized solutions. Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and develop design teams in a cross-functional environment. Familiarity with technical drawing production, design reviews, and site coordination. Proven experience delivering technical training and education to internal sales teams or external partners. Experience with AutoCAD required. Experience with Inventor preferred but not required. Willing and able to travel up to 25% of the time.
