Overview
Lead Consultant - Commissioning role at WSP in the U.S. This Full-time position for our Orlando, FL office (other locations considered) focuses on commissioning building systems and facilities projects in public and private sectors. Provides support to technical staff, engineers, and project managers to validate construction, integrity, operability, and commissioning of building systems including HVAC, steam, compressed air, chilled water, plumbing, and automation. Generates reports and documentation on equipment configuration, optimization studies, system functional testing, readiness testing, and transition from construction to full operations. Ensures work meets quality, performance, reliability, safety, and security standards. Your Impact
Provide guidance with collecting, compiling, and analyzing data from the physical work site during construction phases, surveys, blueprints, schematics, data, technical drawings, flow diagrams, reports, and other matrices for project energy auditing, validation, and commissioning. Conduct professional building and system commissioning work by researching and inspecting proposed and existing site conditions, equipment, resources, layout, usage, and systems to determine conformance with applicable rules, standards, codes, and permits. Develop and oversee configuration, testing specifications, and readiness plans; prepare and update checklists/punch lists and cost estimates coordinating with owners, other disciplines, sub-consultants, and clients. Participate from project inception to completion for commissioning deliverables across concept development, preliminary design, final design, procurement, integration, installation, and operation. Incorporate advanced technologies, monitoring, modeling techniques, design requirements, load calculations, and operating strategies to ensure proper installation and functioning of equipment and systems; implement future-ready solutions with operating standards. Verify site characteristics and provide technical assistance on design, installation, and integration issues related to commissioning and retro-commissioning of building systems (HVAC, steam, compressed air, chilled water, plumbing, automation). Oversee cross-functional teams on mid-level and/or multiple concurrent projects, including budgets, hours/expenses, task completion, materials/equipment/labor quantities, calculations, permit applications, schematics, compliance documentation, and technical memos. Coordinate, review, and approve commissioning and operational plans, ensuring data integrity and code/regulation compliance. Prepare data visualizations, tables, charts, reports, sketches, calculations, and 2D/3D illustrations for complex data interpretation or presentation. Maintain quality control standards and documentation logs for testing, verification, and reporting procedures. Assist with development and scoping of medium- to large-sized commissioning projects. Provide guidance and training to entry-level to mid-level commissioning staff. Prepare comprehensive technical reports and presentations that explain findings and recommendations to address design, installation, and operational issues or opportunities. Analyze site assessment data to develop action plans for moderate- to high-level risk installation, equipment operations, and mitigation activities. Prepare and implement site Health and Safety Plans (HASPs). Interact with regulatory agencies, subcontractors, and clients professionally. Collaborate with professionals, engineers, inspectors, project control, and technicians on building improvement and development projects, as well as proposal/business development opportunities. Remain current with latest commissioning techniques and practices. Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds and conduct; adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies. Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs. Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or closely related discipline or equivalent years of industry experience. 7 to 10 years of relevant post-education experience in a discipline with prior building and systems commissioning experience. Proficient with building commissioning principles, practices, processes, design/build, and application to project work. Extensive knowledge of smart building design. Experience with building planning, design, and installation management; involvement in renovation and new design projects. Knowledge of building technology/system installation laws, codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements. Ability to perform technical computations, interpret plans and specs, and compare to standards/regulations. Ability to plan and conduct inspections and investigations on installation and design of equipment, facilities, and systems. Strong interpersonal and communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences. Detail-oriented, capable of multi-tasking, and self-directed with minimal oversight; provides leadership to junior team members with QA/QC adherence. Proficiency with technical writing, office software, load calculations, CAD/BIM (AutoCAD, Revit), spreadsheets, and related tools. Strong problem-solving skills to interpret data and testing results and derive effective solutions. Experience coordinating and directing subcontractors and teams to complete tasks safely and efficiently. Commitment to workplace safety and compliance with health, safety, and harassment policies. Ability to work schedules that may extend beyond typical workweeks and occasional travel as required. Preferred Qualifications
Master’s Degree is preferred. Licensure/certification is desirable. Interest in LEED certification. Active participation in local professional organizations. WSP Benefits

Expected Salary (all locations): $103,000 - $145,000. WSP USA reserves the right to adjust the final offer based on qualifications, location, and other factors in accordance with law.
