Position Summary:
The Grain Logistics Coordinator is responsible for managing the movement of packaged, bulk, and hopper grain shipments. This role ensures that all customer orders are accurately scheduled, and deliveries are executed efficiently to the correct locations. The Coordinator acts as the key link between sales, carriers, and dispatch to align supply with demand while maintaining compliance with food-grade requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
• Plan and schedule packaged, bulk, and hopper grain shipments in alignment with orders and forecasts.
• Assign carriers and dispatch loads to ensure timely and accurate deliveries.
• Serve as primary point of contact between sales, customer service, carriers and dispatch. Resolve and communicate any issues, delays, or disruptions.
• Analyze shipment lanes and volumes for cost savings, performance issues, and backhaul opportunities. Provide options and work with sales teams to create efficiencies.
• Ensure all documentation is completed and distributed accurately.
• Maintain compliance with food grade handling standards for packaged and bulk grains.
• Contribute to process improvement initiatives to reduce costs and strengthen service and compliance.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
• Associate or Bachelors degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, or Business plus 2 years of related experience
• Will consider candidates with 3+ years of directly related experience in logistics support or customer service.
• STRONG attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and compliance.
• Knowledge of packaged, bulk, and hopper freight operations.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills with ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
Skills and Competencies:
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft tools. Advanced Excel skills a plus!
• Familiarity and ability to learn ERP and dispatch scheduling tools.
• Bi-lingual is a definite plus, but must be proficient in spoken and written English to clearly communicate DOT standards, etc.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience in multi-modal environment including use of private fleet.
• Exposure to backhaul consolidations and cross modal distribution.
Working Conditions:
• Standard office environment sitting or standing while using computer for prolonged periods of time
• Use of multiple communications platforms to conduct day-to-day operations
• May need to lift and carry up to 15 pounds for short distances on occasions.
