Ph.D. in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Biotechnology, Biomedical Engineering, Biomedical Sciences, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or related fields.

Biomedical undergraduate background.

Understanding of fluid dynamics, pathology, biochemistry, anatomy (preferred).

Experience with finite element and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations for engineering and biomedical applications.

Multiscale modelling of human systems (Virtual Twins) with applications in precision medicine and digital health.

Material modelling using cutting‑edge simulation frameworks.

In‑silico simulation of organ‑level systems, including translational research in digital twins.

Expertise in computational drug discovery, molecular modeling, QSAR, pharmacophore analysis, molecular dynamics, and related platforms (e.g., Dassault Systèmes 3DEXPERIENCE, BIOVIA Discovery Studio).

Responsibilities and Expectations

Work with hospital and clinician teams 10–20 hours per week to address data management and engineering development queries.

Develop and maintain the liver and gastrointestinal physiology virtual twin models.

Oversee de‑identified databases and ensure proper formatting, labeling, and collaboration with clinician input.

Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams at national and international hospitals, including investigators, research staff, IT teams, and LHS.

Understand computer databases, spreadsheets, and word‑processing software; process digital clinical data formats (DICOM, STL, JPG, PNG, TIF, CSV, XLSX).

Establish a competitive research program in computational engineering and digital health.

Develop and continue multidisciplinary collaboration, and satisfy teaching and service requirements consistent with department policies.

Successful Candidate Profile

Build and lead an independent research program in computational engineering and digital health with potential for competitive funding.

Advance LIU’s leadership in AI‑driven multiscale simulation and Virtual Twin technologies for pharmaceuticals, bioengineering, and precision medicine.

Design and validate multiscale frameworks for translational biomedical research and drug toxicity and efficacy from atomistic to organ‑level digital twins.

Play a central role in curriculum development and teaching excellence for the Bachelor of Engineering in Digital Engineering program.

Mentor and inspire students to address real‑world biomedical and technological challenges.

Collaborate across engineering, life sciences, and computational biology to develop interdisciplinary research projects and experiential learning opportunities.

Context LIU and Dassault Systèmes have established the world’s first 3DEXPERIENCE Education and Research Center of Excellence in Life Sciences. The center focuses on research with significant societal impact to advance pharmaceutical sciences, precision medicine, and healthcare in the digital age. The team collaborates extensively with hospitals such as Baylor College of Medicine, and supports global conferences and symposia promoting digital health technologies.
