Middle School Humanities Teacher (Immediate Start) Prospect Schools is a high‑performing, intentionally diverse K‑12 college preparatory charter network serving more than 2,700 students across seven schools in Brooklyn. Our curriculum is based on the International Baccalaureate program and focuses on developing global citizens with a passion for lifelong learning. The Role We are seeking an organized, flexible, and mission‑driven teacher to join our instructional team. The teacher will create positive, equitable classroom environments that excite and invest students in their learning goals.

Responsibilities Planning & Instruction

Design culturally responsive lesson plans that engage students and foster a love for learning.

Teach in an intentionally diverse classroom, actively engaging all students.

Attend regular coaching meetings and professional development sessions.

Use data‑informed methods to differentiate instruction for individual learner needs.

Demonstrate deep content knowledge and effective pedagogy through clear, objective‑driven instruction.

Serve as an advisor to students, motivating across skill levels and fostering social‑emotional well‑being.

Partner with co‑teachers using multiple co‑teaching models.

Classroom Environment

Model core values and provide opportunities to learn and practice them.

Set a positive tone, high expectations, and encourage student voice.

Create a purposeful, supportive, and warm learning environment through clear expectations and routines.

Build a culturally sustaining community where students feel safe, valued, and respected.

Parent Partnership

Build relationships and give ongoing progress updates through regular communication.

Use family and student feedback to continuously improve learning experiences.

Coordinate meetings with families, such as Report Card Night.

Adult Culture & Teamwork

Show flexibility and adaptability to school and student needs.

Adopt a Team‑First mindset, building relationships, collaborating across functional teams, engaging families and community members.

Candidate Requirements

Bachelor’s degree.

Prior teaching experience preferred.

Strong organizational skills with keen attention to detail.

Experience in a diverse school community.

Adept at collaborating and building community with others.

Salary Competitive salary based on experience and education. Salary range: $63,960 – $106,995.
