Surgical Services - Certified OR Tech / Surgical Tech (CST)
We are seeking a Certified OR Tech to join our team. This position requires proficiency in Ophthalmology, including Cataract and Vitrectomy procedures, as well as experience in Ortho, Neuro, and Robotics. The role involves working 4x10s with a 9 AM start, on‑call shifts, and weekends as needed.
Requirements
Years of Experience: Minimum 2 years required

Required Certifications: BLS, NBSTSA
Job Duties
Preoperative Functions:
Assist in selecting supplies and equipment for procedures
Prepare the OR using the physician's preference list
Set up specialty tables and secure necessary instruments
Open sterile packages using sterile technique
Intraoperative Functions:
Provide scrub services for minor and major procedures
Assist the surgeon in various tasks such as holding retractors, applying electrocautery, and cutting suture material
Set up specialized surgical equipment under RN supervision
Postoperative Duties:
Assist in transferring patients to postoperative beds
Perform operating room sanitation tasks
Clean anesthesia machines and operate sterilization units
Technical Subject Matter Expert Functions:
Serve as a technical expert for at least one surgical service
Assist with maintenance of physician preference lists and specialty instruments
Miscellaneous Functions:
Report defective materials or unsafe conditions
Put away unused supplies and update surgeon preference lists
Assist with employee orientation and evaluation of instruments
Professional Expectations:
Attend and participate in continuing education classes and in‑services
Demonstrate commitment to unit and department goals
Adhere to hospital policies and complete assigned duties efficiently
Education Equivalent experience will be accepted in lieu of the required degree or diploma. A diploma from an accredited surgical technology program or documented on‑the‑job training program is preferred.
Typical Experience Minimum two years of recent acute care hospital experience in a surgical technologist role, with documented competency to scrub major procedures in at least three surgical specialties preferred. Ophthalmology experience is preferred.
