The Visitor Engagement Facilitator is a cross‑departmental educator and facilitator of informal science and art experiences for all museum visitors. This role welcomes and provides visitors with meaningful educational engagement throughout their journey, both at the museum and off‑site for programming. The facilitator serves as the first point of contact for all visitors, members, donors, field trips, groups, and customers, and works across visitor experience and visitor services functions. The position reports to Visitor Engagement Managers and focuses on exceeding guest expectations to contribute to an exceptional museum experience. Essential Functions

Initiate visitor engagement and assist all museum guests at all points of the visitor journey. Facilitate enriching museum experiences through exhibit explorations, scientific demonstrations, and inquiry‑based engagement. Participate in the field‑trip program and other projects that strengthen connections between students, teachers, visitors, and museum learning experiences. Provide excellent guest service, go above and beyond expectations, and meet or exceed service targets. Assist guests with additional needs, including separated visitors, lost and found, and accessibility requirements. Prepare the museum for daily operations; maintain appearance and report dysfunctional exhibits. Be knowledgeable about the museum’s history, programs, exhibits, and special events and communicate this information dynamically. Handle sales, service, and payments for ticketing, retail, membership, and program products in accordance with museum policies. Answer information requests by phone, electronically, and in person; troubleshoot technical issues and perform routine office tasks. Collaborate with internal departments to keep all museum floor areas functional, safe, and visitor‑ready; assist during emergency procedures. Participate in professional development and collaborative projects, including ongoing trainings in visitor service, business operations, and inquiry‑based practices. Minimum Qualifications

Weekend, evening, holiday hours and occasional extended shifts required. Interest in learning exhibits and their scientific principles and communicating them to students, teachers, and general visitors. Commitment to exceptional customer service with a guests‑first mentality. Professional and courteous interaction with the public and diverse community members. Punctual, neat, accurate, and detail‑oriented work habits. Excellent telephone, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to work in a noisy, chaotic environment and be flexible under varied circumstances. Ability to interact with and manage large groups with a friendly, outgoing, positive, and enthusiastic attitude. Good judgment and independence; works well in a diverse team environment. Self‑starter with initiative. Math and English proficiency required. Computer proficiency required. Preferred Qualifications

Bilingual skills. Investment in diversity, equity, access, and inclusion. Experience in visitor service, cashier, and/or retail. Experience in an informal education setting or visitor‑focused role. Background in working with youth and knowledge of crisis intervention. Physical Requirement

Move from place to place; stand and/or walk for extended periods. Lift and carry up to 50 pounds short distances; bend, kneel, reach. Application Deadline
