Physician (Patient Aligned Care Team Primary Care Provider) Summary

– This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP). Applicants must meet eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit the EDRP application within four months of appointment. The award amount is up to $200,000 with an eligibility period of one to five years. Former EDRP participants are ineligible to apply.

Base Pay Range $230,000.00/yr – $315,000.00/yr

Qualifications

United States Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.

Doctor of Medicine (MD) or equivalent degree from a VA-approved school completed in the year of the study.

Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a U.S. State, Territory, Commonwealth, or District of Columbia.

Residency training approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty, leading to eligibility for board certification.

Residency must be ACGME-accredited or AOA-accredited; or other residency followed by a minimum of five years of verified U.S. practice deemed appropriate by the local Medical Staff Executive Committee.

Physicians in ACGME/AOA accredited residency programs who otherwise meet basic requirements are eligible to be appointed as Physician Resident Providers (PRPs).

PRPs must be fully licensed physicians and may only be appointed on an intermittent or fee‑basis; they are not independent practitioners and are not privileged but have a scope of practice for certain restricted duties under supervision.

Proficiency in spoken and written English.

Duties & Responsibilities

Serve as a Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT) Primary Care Provider at the Oxford VA Clinic.

Maintain an active role in the assigned multidisciplinary health‑care team, promoting preventive health measures and managing acute and chronic conditions of assigned patients.

Provide comprehensive assessment, diagnosis work‑up, and clinic intervention, including patient health history, physical examinations, and patient education for both scheduled and unscheduled appointments.

Work full‑time with standard clinic hours Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; after‑hours call and rounding for hospitalized patients are not required.

Telework is available and scheduled as needed.

Meet all licensure, credentialing, and training requirements before appointment; current physicians meeting prior qualification standards are considered eligible.

Additional duties may be assigned as needed.

Compensation & Benefits

Competitive base salary with annual performance bonus and regular salary increases.

Paid time off: 50‑55 days per year (26 days annual leave, 13 days sick leave, 11 paid federal holidays; 5 days paid CME absence).

Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5‑year vesting) and federal 401(k) with up to 5% VA contribution.

Licensure: Full and unrestricted license from any U.S. state or territory.

Continuing medical education reimbursement: up to $1,000 per year (full‑time, board‑certified physicians).

Contract: No employment contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting.
