Summary On behalf of our client, IGNYTE AI is seeking Plant Controller who will have oversight of 2 plants, overseeing around $75M revenue. This person will be responsible for all finance and accounting functions, providing financial reporting, cost accounting, and analysis to support operations.
The ideal candidate will possess a combination of technical expertise, leadership skills, and cultural fit to thrive in an evolving environment.
Location
Onsite role 5 days a week in Buena, New Jersey
Responsibilities
Financial Leadership: Serve as the financial leader for the Buena and another nearby facility, overseeing all finance and accounting functions to support operations.
Strategic Partnership: Act as a key member of the plant management team, contributing to strategic decisions and continuous improvement initiatives beyond traditional accounting roles.
Team Management: Supervise and develop the dedicated plant accountant, providing mentorship and guidance to ensure efficient financial operations.
Financial Reporting: Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements for the facilities.
Cost Accounting: Implement and maintain robust cost accounting systems to effectively track and analyze manufacturing costs across diverse product lines.
Variance Analysis: Conduct regular production variance reviews, identifying opportunities to reduce unfavorable variances and supporting targeted cost‑reduction projects.
Budgeting and Forecasting: Lead the annual budgeting process and prepare ongoing forecasts, working closely with the Commercial Team and plant management to align financial projections with operational plans.
Performance Analysis: Evaluate the financial performance of the plant, analyzing spending trends and variances to budget, and explaining key performance metrics to leadership.
Standard Cost Maintenance: Regularly review and update standard costs, product margins, and machine rates to reflect accurate manufacturing costs and support pricing decisions.
Capital Project Analysis: Prepare financial justifications for capital projects, track spending, and monitor project performance to ensure return on investment.
Operational Support: Provide financial insights to operations on metrics such as scrap, cost of quality, labor efficiency, and inventory management.
Compliance and Controls: Ensure strong financial controls and compliance with accounting standards and regulations across the plant's operations.
Cross‑functional Collaboration: Build strong relationships with Finance, Operations, and Human Resources teams, functioning effectively in a matrix organization.
Corporate Liaison: Act as a liaison between the plant and corporate finance, occasionally interacting with board‑level leadership to represent the facility's financial performance and needs.
Education and Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field (Master's degree preferred).
CPA or CMA certification strongly desired.
5‑10 years of experience in cost accounting within a manufacturing environment.
Prior experience in manufacturing.
Demonstrated experience in financial and operations analysis, particularly in inventory control and supply chain management.
Proven supervisory experience managing junior finance staff.
Strong proficiency in ERP systems.
Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
Exposure to multi‑site or regional financial responsibilities a plus.
Strong technical expertise in cost accounting and manufacturing finance, with the ability to handle complex bills of materials and diverse product lines.
Proven leadership skills, including the ability to supervise, mentor, and develop team members.
High emotional intelligence (EQ) to effectively integrate with the relatively new management team and build trust.
Collaborative and team‑oriented approach, with the ability to align people and present a united front as part of leadership.
Range: $150,000-165,000 + 10% discretionary annual bonus, based on experience.
