Field Engineer – PCL Construction

Responsibilities
Mentor and lead inspections and orientations, identify hazards and corrections, and model health and safety practices.
Coordinate with superintendent on workforce planning.
Maintain project document control and procedures; support project engineers/superintendents in leading trade contractors, including RFIs, shop drawings, changes, and billings.
Supervise self‑perform scopes, including resolving crew sizes, labor tracking, and quantity tracking for Labor Cost Reports (LCRs).
Mentor and coach field engineers and students/interns.
Identify issues on‑site or in defined work scopes.
Coordinate third‑party inspections and site reviews.
Participate in crafting, implementing, and supervising the quality plan and Inspection and Test Plan (ITP).
Develop and maintain positive relationships with all partners.
Qualifications
Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, architecture (preferred) or equivalent experience.
0–12 months of experience as a field engineer/coordinator (internship experience counts).
Knowledge of construction specifications, methods, and procedures (formwork, self‑perform work, subcontract scopes, temporary works, equipment, scheduling).
Ability to understand and apply construction principles to problem‑solve.
Effective verbal and written communication with supervisors, subcontractors, and inspectors.
Proven ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.
Clear technical writing for trade contractors, designers, and inspectors.
Strong partner‑relationship skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction‑related software.

Salary Range $77,200 – $96,500 annually, based on background and qualifications.
