Responsibilities
Coordinate and develop patient care using the Nursing Process and follow all established standards of practice within State and Federal guidelines.
Provide supervision and mentorship of non‑RN personnel; serve as a resource to staff and management in problem identification and resolution.
Greet patients, document concerns, conduct initial patient interview, review patient medical profile, H&P, and document in EMR or manual charting.
Obtain and accurately document patient vital signs and weight; report any abnormalities to the physician.
Assist with specimen collection and testing as necessary; document pertinent information in EMR.
Assist patients with walking, transferring, dressing, and other necessary tasks.
Provide minor treatment as directed by physician; assist physicians with minor procedures.
Provide education as indicated after assessing learning needs of the patient and/or family.
Document all patient‑related activities and keep records up to date.
Schedule patient testing and pre‑authorize insurance when required.
Respond to all telephone messages (patients, physician offices, etc.).
Check for expired supplies and medications at month‑end; maintain and stock room inventory.
Order supplies as needed; keep exam/procedure rooms clean and ready for next patient.
Notify patients of test results per physician instruction and follow up as directed.
Attend scheduled staff meetings, in‑service education opportunities, and participate in continuing education programs.
Maintain positive relationships with all team members and protect patient confidentiality in accordance with legal requirements.
Participate in and support performance improvement and risk management activities.
Perform other related duties as assigned to maintain a high level of service.
Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
Valid license as Registered Nurse in Connecticut.
BLS Certification.
Excellent customer service and communication skills.
Knowledge of medical terminology.
Minimum of 2 years previous experience in a similar position.
Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking in English.
