Summary Role Overview: Under close supervision, the Radiologic Technologist (Multi-Modality) performs a variety of duties in the Department of Radiology/ Imaging Services of Alameda Health System related to general Radiography/Fluoroscopy. Performs various diagnostic imaging examinations of patients as directed for diagnostic and treatment purposes according to established procedures. Performs related duties as required.

DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Assists Physician in administering opaque media (contrast)

Rotates assignments within the department by assigned shifts as required to meet departmental needs

Processes images as appropriate for Modality (CR/DR/Film) and is proficient in utilizing the PACS system (Picture Archival Communications)

Maintains adequate records of examinations/dose/contrast as directed, and appropriately utilizing two patient identifiers with each patient exam

Assists with movement of patients (rooming/transport)

Assists in the development/optimization of technical factors for radiographic procedures

May assist in equipment or procedures not routinely taught in school

May assist in the training of students

Performs a variety of technical procedures that will require independent judgment, with designate areas or procedures as required

Performs all general diagnostic and routine fluoroscopic duties as determined by employer

Practices sterile techniques and prevents cross contamination

Maintains orderliness and cleanliness of environment and supplies

Ensures utilization of non‑expired supplies by checking stock regularly and using "first in, first out" rule of restocking

Produces radiographs, positions and transfers patients, and provides immobilization devices as necessary to obtain images

Provides radiation protection in accordance with prescribed radiation safety standards

Ensures utilizing techniques that promote ALARA on an individual patient basis (As Low as Reasonably Achievable) for radiation exposure

Selects and operates all imaging equipment as directed and licensed to perform

Qualifications Required Education High school Diploma or equivalent; Graduation from an Accredited School of Radiologic Technology

Preferred Education Associates Degree or Bachelor’s Degree

Required Experience Proficient in a minimum of three Modalities

X-ray and Fluoroscopy (must have these plus one additional modality: CT/MRI/PACS). Internal promotion must meet required criteria prior to promotion; external hire must obtain within 6 months

CT (Computed Tomography) – ARRT (CT) Required

Mammography – CRT (M) Required

MRI – ARRT (MRI) Required

Permanent Lead for designated shift

Primary responsibility for compliance with the Mammography Quality Standards Act of 1992 (MQSA) through record keeping and reporting

Required Licenses/Certifications Valid ARRT Radiologic Technologist certification, and other ARRT certifications as they relate to each modality where appropriate; valid Fluoroscopy Permit issued by the State of California; BLS – Basic Life Support Certification – issued by AHA–American Heart Association.

Pay Range $66.47-$83.96/HR

The pay range for this position reflects the base pay scale for the role at Alameda Health System. Final compensation will be determined based on several factors, including but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licenses and certifications, departmental equity, applicable collective bargaining agreements, and the operational needs of the organization.
