Electrical Engineer - On Site in Manassas, VA
This is a great opportunity for an Electrical Engineer to design military quality concepts, products and systems. Program activities would be associated with submarine Total Ship Monitoring System (TSMS) and Towed Array (TA) tasking. Products are typically re-packaged COTS and customer components designed into ruggedized units and integrated into a larger enclosure cabinet or system. Products are required to meet Navy Sonar and Ship Monitoring submarine and surface performance, functional and environmental requirements.
Job Responsibilities
Work within Integrated Product Team (IPT) organization including system integrator, other trusted partners and the Navy customer to support technology insertion process
Organize and lead design reviews, and other technical meetings. Provide and/or present technical information as required
Develop and maintain trusted working relationship with Navy customer technical representatives
Perform trade studies, develop and promote design concepts for new or improved products
High level system architectural design - server interfaces, networking and storage technologies
Systems engineering - create documentation related to requirements generation, validation, mapping, and test verification
Develop technical data package documentation; higher level 2-D schematic capture defining component interface design of COTS and custom design components
Detailed printed wire board assembly, firmware (e.g., FPGA, microcontroller) design/development - generate requirements to support industry partners development or possess these skills
Support product acceptance testing such as Performance Verification Testing (PVT), Environmental EMI/EMC Qualification (EQT), and Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT)
Design and develop hardware test beds in support of acceptance testing
Perform hardware troubleshooting
Perform submarine fleet support of our products as required, some travel may be required
Lead various functional groups including systems, software and mechanical engineering, material management and manufacturing
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering required from an accredited university;
Able to problem solve and troubleshoot system interface and detailed component assemblies
Linux familiarity and programming experience is a plus
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency in the use of Microsoft products—Outlook, Excel, Power Point, Word, Visio
Ability to prioritize tasks to accomplish in a timely manner
