Professional Fire Protection Systems, has been an industry leader for fire protection services in the Virginia, and eastern North Carolina area. We are based in Norfolk and Ashland, VA and have an excellent team of employees who are responsible for the design, installation, service, and inspection of fire alarms, sprinkler systems, kitchen fire suppression systems, fire extinguishers, and kitchen hood/duct systems. About The Opportunity Professional Fire Protection Systems is looking to hire a Fire Sprinkler and Fire Alarm Inspector. This is a very important and essential role in our company and the ideal candidate will have to be very well organized, be goal oriented and have excellent communication skills. This position requires the ability to test and inspect Fire Alarm and Fire Sprinkler systems for established commercial customers on a scheduled basis and must be available for on call rotation.
Job Duties
Run test and inspection on fire alarm and fire sprinkler systems.
Serve as primary point of contact and ensure customers receive quality customer service.
Conduct fire inspections for existing structures, renovations, and new construction.
Ensure customers are served to the highest level of satisfaction through quality service and that the customer expectations are satisfied before leaving the job site.
Perform routine inspections, testing, and preventative maintenance of fire/life safety product lines to the applicable standards.
Perform troubleshooting, service, and minor repairs as necessary.
Identify code and other non-conformance issues and make recommendations on repairs or preventative maintenance.
Review inspection report with customer and provide a detailed explanation of inspection results.
Complete and produce reports that are legible, accurate, and detailed.
Advise customer of test and inspection results.
Stay current with code requirements and industry changes.
Attend and complete all required safety training.
Perform other related duties as assigned or required.
Qualifications
Valid Driver's License with 3 or less points is required.
Minimum of 3 years licensed driving experience is required.
Advance knowledge of fire sprinkler and fire alarm systems.
NICET certification preferred, but not required.
Minimum of 2 years hands on experience.
Experience performing special hazard suppression system inspection and repair a plus but not required (FM200 and Halon).
Functional knowledge to test the following fire alarm brands: Simplex, Notifier and Fire-Lite.
Ability to be available on-call when scheduled.
Must be comfortable working on ladders 6 to 12ft and on lifts.
Ability to lift up to 70lbs, to work overhead and in unusual or small spaces such as attics and crawl spaces.
Skills to communicate well with customers and explain the work being done and any repairs that are necessary.
Skills to write well and be very detailed in your write up on service work.
Must be well organized and be able to keep track of service tickets and process all required documents for each service/inspection performed.
Compensation
Pay is hourly and is negotiable dependent on candidate experience.
