IUOE Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Mechanic

Location: 514 Intercampus Dr, Rochester, NY 14627, United States

Position Type: Full time, Regular, Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40 hours

Compensation Range: $29.89 - $38.99 per hour

Responsibilities:

  • Installs, tests, troubleshoots, and repairs a variety of air conditioning and refrigeration systems; maintains equipment including absorption, centrifugal, and compressor units.
  • Performs preventive maintenance on installed equipment.
  • Inspects and examines system components to detect mechanical or electrical failures.
  • Disassembles related equipment to note condition and makes necessary repairs or replacements.
  • Checks electrical, electronic, and pneumatic controls and makes necessary adjustments.
  • Pumps down and charges units with appropriate refrigerants.
  • Performs installations according to engineer outlines using blueprints, sketches, specifications, and manufacturer recommendations.
  • Tests and balances air and chilled/hot water systems.
  • Keeps records and makes reports of daily work, emergency calls, and general equipment condition.
  • Reviews controls and control systems for proper operation and optimal efficiency; makes recommendations for modifications.
  • Adheres to all University, Departmental, and OSHA safety policies and requirements.
  • Performs other related duties of similar complexity, including maintenance of tools.

Qualifications:

  • High school education and 4-6 years experience as a building heating, ventilating, cooling, and controls mechanics OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and write the English language.
  • EPA Refrigerant Certification required.
