Accounting Associate

$55-65K DOE

Position Overview

Our client, a well-established and steadily growing equipment sales and service company, is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Accounting Associate to support its financial operations and long-term succession planning needs. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who enjoys hands‑on accounting work, values integrity and precision, and is looking for a stable environment with genuine growth potential.

Reporting directly to the Controller, the Accounting Associate will perform a variety of day‑to‑day accounting, administrative, and reporting tasks while learning the full scope of the organization’s financial processes. Over time, this individual will have the opportunity to take on increasing responsibilities, positioning themselves for advancement within the accounting function as the company continues to grow.

Key Responsibilities

Core Accounting Functions

  • Assist with daily accounting operations, including journal entries, reconciliations, and internal reporting.
  • Process vendor invoices, purchase orders, and expense reports with accuracy and timeliness.
  • Record and apply customer payments, deposits, and cash receipts.
  • Reconcile bank statements, credit card accounts, and general ledger activity.
  • Support monthly and year‑end closing processes.

Administrative & Reporting Support

  • Maintain organized accounting records, both digital and physical.
  • Assist in preparing internal financial and operational reports as needed.
  • Communicate with vendors, customers, and team members to resolve invoice or payment discrepancies.
  • Coordinate with the Controller and management team on ongoing financial projects.

Systems & Tools

  • Work primarily within accounting software systems such as QuickBooks and the company’s dealer management platform (training provided).
  • Support accounting for multiple related entities, including the primary operations, equipment graphics division, and real estate holdings.

Compliance & Integrity

  • Handle all financial data with the utmost confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Maintain a high standard of accuracy, ethics, and accountability when managing company financials.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration preferred (or equivalent relevant experience).
  • 2+ years of professional accounting or bookkeeping experience preferred; open to less experience for the right candidate with demonstrated aptitude and education.
  • Strong understanding of general accounting principles and financial recordkeeping.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and general computer literacy.
  • High level of integrity, attention to detail, and organizational skill.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for cross‑departmental collaboration.
  • Desire to learn, grow, and assume increasing levels of responsibility within a small, tight‑knit organization.
  • Onsite position, Monday‑Friday, in a professional and collaborative office setting.
  • Family‑oriented, team‑driven culture where trust, accountability, and mutual respect are paramount.
  • Stable, long‑tenured leadership team committed to mentoring and preparing the next generation of management.
  • Opportunity to work directly alongside the current Controller, who will provide structured guidance and knowledge transfer over time.
  • Competitive hourly rate, approximately $30/hour (commensurate with experience and qualifications).
  • Health insurance available through a professional employer organization (PEO).
  • Paid time off and holiday schedule.
  • Long‑term growth potential within a financially stable, expanding company.

Why This Role Stands Out

This is not a typical transactional accounting job—it’s a chance to learn directly from senior leadership, gain exposure to full‑cycle accounting across multiple entities, and potentially grow into a future managerial or controller‑level position. The ideal candidate will value integrity, reliability, and precision, and will find satisfaction in contributing to a mission‑driven, community‑oriented business poised for continued success.
