We have an exciting opportunity for an Accounting Manager in the Atlanta or Washington, DC office at Eversheds Sutherland (US) LLP. We are searching for someone who wants to be a valued contributor and member of a talented and dynamic team of lawyers, paralegals and business professionals.
The Accounting Manager is part of the Accounting & Finance management team and will report directly to the Controller. This position will lead day‑to‑day accounting operations. The role is critical in ensuring the integrity of financial reporting, compliance with internal controls and the timely close of monthly and annual books. The position has responsibilities over financial and compliance reporting, partner accounting, audit, tax and compliance processes, ad hoc reporting, special projects and other areas as assigned. The Accounting Manager will manage a team of 2 or more personnel and work closely with outside tax and accounting firms along with other members of the Finance & Accounting team.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Supervise and oversee work of staff in general and partner accounting functions.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, firm policies and external audit requirements.
- Create, maintain and update internal documentation, process guidelines and other instructions, as needed.
- Manage General Ledger and Balance sheet components, including reconciliations, journal entries and related activities, including enhanced controls.
- Coordinate with billing, accounts payable, payroll teams and others to ensure accurate financial data.
- Manage Fixed Asset records, processes and reporting.
- Assist Controller in participating and coordinating annual, quarterly and otherwise required taxes, including preparation of K‑1s, Composite/Pass‑Through Entity (PTE)/Withholding state elections & returns, Tax Residential Certificates and like activities.
- Complete ad hoc projects as assigned.
- Assist the Controller and accounting team as needed.
- Function as administrator for system related components of above duties.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from an accredited institution. CPA strongly preferred.
- Minimum five years of accounting experience and two years of supervisory experience; law firm or professional services experience preferred.
- Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem‑solving abilities; proficiency in MS Office Suite (advanced Excel required); experience with Aderant preferred; excellent communication and organizational skills; discretion with confidential data.
The salary ranges for this position vary depending on the geographic location and other factors such as experience, internal equity, market data, and job‑related considerations. The range for this position is from $120,000 – $155,000, with offers contingent upon the various factors. This is a hybrid role and will require on‑site presence 3 days per week.
