Position Summary:
Provides leadership and oversees the effectiveness of branch operations for assigned branch.
Primary duty is to manage the smooth operations of the branch as well as managing all of the branch employees. The Branch Manager will direct and oversee the workflow of all branch operations.
Ensures that branch sales and service goals are achieved. Follows established security and compliance requirements.
It is management's understanding that each retail office services a unique customer base and that expectations may vary based upon area demographics, level of oversight, community resources, level of deposits, and overall business volume.
Primary Management Accountabilities/Responsibilities:
Leadership:
Develops, trains, and motivates high quality subordinate managers and/or staff. Oversees subordinate performance expectations and carries out formal assessments of direct reports. Provides direction and counsel as required. Assures effectiveness, proficiency and preparedness of subordinates to achieve corporate objectives. Conducts hiring and disciplinary actions, if necessary. Fiscal:
Ensures the fiscal integrity and control of assigned branch. Participates in the development of branch budgets. Assures cost effectiveness/profitability of assigned branch. Promotes fiscal responsibility among subordinate managers and/or staff. Pursues innovations to enhance bank profitability. Operational Efficiency:
Suggests efficient operating systems, procedures and methods. Continually monitors operating results and existing policies and procedures and makes recommendations for modifications to operating policies, methods and work flow. May conduct research relative to the selection and/or development and implementation of new systems. Communications:
Ensures effectiveness of internal and external communications. Provides for effective and timely upward reporting to management, bank operating units, and external authorities as required. Meets with branch staff on regular basis. External/Internal Relations:
Represents the bank in a professional, courteous manner to customers, associates, vendors and the public. Participates in and promotes the bank's various marketing efforts. Seeks out and participates in community events and sales opportunities. Builds cooperative and effective relationships with other bank units.
Primary Functional Accountabilities/Responsibilities:
Ensures exceptional service is provided to all customers through consistent modeling, training, and feedback. Monitors customer service inquiries, etc. in order to ensure customer satisfaction. Implements and monitors branch objectives toward achievement of increased product and service business plan goals. Provides overall leadership in explaining, training, motivating and rewarding staff in product and service knowledge and selling techniques. Encourages staff with daily, short, sales and service motivational reminders. Monitors weekly results and makes adjustments to meet promotional goals and objectives. Communicates results with branch staff. Maintains a complete knowledge of the bank's product offerings. Provides advice and counsel to existing and potential customers regarding product/service selection and cross-sells all bank products and services. Opens all accounts offered by the bank, i.e., savings, checking, IRA, etc. Conducts loan application interviews; explains policies, terms, etc., reviews applications for completeness and accuracy. Reviews applications and makes recommendations regarding loan decisions. Closes loans in branch as necessary. Required to maintain a valid registration through the National Mortgage Licensing System. Responsible for being in full compliance with all applicable requirements of the Secure and Fair Enforcement for Mortgage Licensing Act of 2008 (S.A.F.E. Act) Provides for effective community and public relations within market area of assigned branch. Participates regularly in community and civic organizations and other business forums as a means of promoting the bank. Establishes and nurtures contacts within the community. Conducts external sales calls to local businesses to increase bank's visibility and enhance new business opportunities. Refers customers and prospects to the bank's Loan Officers as appropriate. Sells the bank's Alternative Investments programs by providing introductions to the Investment Representatives, referrals, and coordination of appointments. Exercises responsibility for the success of marketing initiatives presented by the bank, i.e., ensuring associate fulfillment of marketing programs i.e., lobby merchandising, Teller Update Program, etc.. Monitors and provides feedback of competitors' products and service offerings. Consistently promotes the bank at outside events or in social circles. Ensures through subordinate managers, that the branch balances on a daily basis. Accepts responsibility for branch and account settlement, ensuring all figures are accurate and presented in established manner. Works cooperatively with Accounting, Finance & Customer Support departments towards established corporate objectives. Ensures that proper levels of control are maintained at the branch office through periodic internal or external audits, routine security checks, etc. and ensures a cooperative spirit with the Security & Retail Compliance Officer(s) towards established compliance, CRA and Fair Lending objectives. Communicates with Human Resources relative to appropriate employment matters i.e., conducts hiring, terminations, disciplinary actions, promotions, transfers, etc. Ensures that schedules are completed and monitors the appropriate levels and utilization of staff consistent with business needs. Works cooperatively with SVP- Bank Operations and his / her staff to ensure that branch facility is attractively and safely maintained. Ensures adequacy of branch supplies, material and equipment. Works closely with the IT department to maintain an understanding of the computer equipment and software functionality of all retail systems. Oversees and performs if applicable, administration and record keeping of any unique attribute of the branch i.e., safe deposit function, drive up, conference room, etc..
18. Performs any and all duties required to achieve successful bank performance.
Minimum Qualifications at Entry:
Education/Experience:
Bachelors' Degree in business or equivalent with courses in accounting or business. Three to five years of branch supervision required.
