ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Studies shipping notices, bills of lading, invoices, orders, and other records to determine shipping priorities, work assignments, and shipping methods required to meet shipping and receiving schedules.
Oversees incoming and outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and satisfactory delivered condition of shipments.
Manage warehouse operations to assure efficient and safe storage of goods and materials. Supervise cycle counts and inventory controls.
Determines routing and loading methods.
Inspects loading operations to ensure compliance with shipping specifications.
Inspects material handling equipment for defects and notifies maintenance personnel or contacts outside service facility for repair.
Supervises shipping and receiving employees using good employee relations practices. Issues written and oral instructions. Responsible for adherence to work rules, safety rules, recommends discipline, proper timekeeping, schedules and approval of vacation and personal time.
Studies and standardizes procedures to improve efficiency of subordinates.
Other duties may be assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Directly supervises numerous employees in the shipping and receiving areas. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS None required.
COMPUTER SKILLS Required knowledge of MS Excel and MS Word using MS Windows platform. MS PowerPoint and MS Access experience a plus.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS Less than 10% required.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES Attendance is an essential job requirement defined as having regular, consistent, reliable, punctual and predictable attendance including the ability to work regular hours and shifts, overtime before and after shifts and on weekends. Ability to work as part of a team, including all related departments/plants or independently as required to achieve internal and external customer satisfaction.
