Job Overview:
This role is vital for leading project management systems and providing technical guidance to our EPC project teams. Your goal will be to deliver safe, cost-effective, and high-quality execution of electric substation, transmission, and distribution projects. As the primary accountability holder, you will oversee all project aspects including scope, schedule, cost, safety, and quality, adhering to the Project Management Book of Knowledge (PMBOK). You will cultivate client relationships and ensure senior management is informed about project statuses and challenges. Primary Job Responsibilities:
As a project manager, you will provide the following under minimal supervision:
Management of the project in accordance with company policies and procedures.
Build and maintain effective relationships with clients and project stakeholders.
Lead contract negotiations and handle change orders, submittals, and approvals.
Establish and manage subcontracting systems for effective contract administration.
Implement comprehensive change control and risk management strategies.
Enforce EH&S and Quality programs tailored for each project.
Create thorough project estimates and proposals.
Facilitate impactful project meetings such as kickoffs, client alignments, and progress reviews.
Provide valuable performance input to team members and management.
Generate project status reports for stakeholders including management and clients.
Prepare accurate project financial reports for project accounting, ensuring compliance with SOX requirements.
Maintain effective financial controls to guarantee project profitability and cash flow.
Ensure timely invoicing and payment to support project financial health.
Education & Experience Requirements:
To succeed in this role, you should have:
A minimum of 5 years’ experience in the utility industry.
At least 1 year of experience in EPC projects.
Experience working with material manufacturers on Transmission Lines or High Voltage Electric Substation projects.
In-depth knowledge of project management fundamentals.
Familiarity with personal computers and software applications, particularly MS Office, MS Project, and/or Primavera.
Strong written communication skills; ability to craft technical documents, formal correspondence, and invoices.
Excellent oral communication skills; ability to present to diverse groups.
A high energy level with the capability to operate in fast-paced and ambiguous environments.
A proven track record in fostering strong internal and external relationships.
A strong commitment to achieving goals and plans.
Exceptional organizational, planning, and time management skills.
Negotiation and decision-making competency.
A working knowledge of project accounting tactics and financial systems.
Understanding of EPC contract pricing such as Fixed Price, Time & Materials, Cost Plus, and Unit pricing.
A proficiency in leading and influencing others in a matrix organization.
A capacity to engage with a diverse range of individuals from various cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.
Desired Qualifications:
The following qualifications are preferred:
Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.
State registration as a Professional Engineer.
PMP certification.
Proficiency in engineering theories and principles.
OSHA 30 Certification.
