Working Hours: 8:00am - 5:00pm

Classified: Exempt, Full-Time, Direct-Hire

Overview:

We are seeking an experienced U.S. Customs Broker to oversee import clearance operations and ensure shipments move through U.S. Customs smoothly and efficiently. The successful candidate will hold an active Customs Broker License and possess a strong command of CBP regulations and international trade procedures. This role is responsible for managing the full import entry process, maintaining compliance, and delivering high-quality service to clients in a fast-paced logistics environment.

Responsibilities:

Handle end-to-end customs entry procedures for international shipments, including document preparation, submission, and clearance through the Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) system.

Review and verify import documentation (commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, etc.) for accuracy and compliance with U.S. Customs and Partner Government Agencies (CBP, FDA, USDA, EPA, and others).

Accurately classify imported goods under the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTSUS) and determine applicable duties, taxes, and fees.

Ensure adherence to all U.S. import regulations and respond promptly to Customs requests such as CF28 or CF29 notices.

Serve as the primary liaison with clients, carriers, government officials, and overseas partners, providing timely updates and professional communication on clearance matters.

Offer guidance to clients on import compliance, duty reduction strategies, and customs programs such as drawback or quota management.

Collaborate with internal freight forwarding and operations teams to support efficient, end-to-end logistics handling from pre-alert through final delivery.

Monitor regulatory and procedural changes in international trade, identify process improvements, and contribute to operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications:

Active U.S. Customs Broker License required.

Hands-on experience in customs brokerage, import compliance, or freight forwarding.

In-depth understanding of U.S. Customs regulations, HTS classification, valuation, Incoterms, and international trade policies.

Proficient in customs brokerage systems, including ACE and related platforms

Strong written and verbal communication skills, high attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook).

Experience with Japan-related trade is advantageous.
