Electronics Technician - CANES
Position Summary: As an Electronics Technician - CANES you will provide technical assistance to the shipboard crews in the operation, inspection, problem identification, troubleshooting and maintenance of the installed Consolidated Afloat Networks and Enterprise Services (CANES) aboard U.S. Navy ships as a representative of Southwest Regional Maintenance Center (SWRMC). You will interface with U.S. Navy civilian engineers, program managers and logisticians, and equipment manufacturers. You will receive daily work assignments from the SWRMC Branch Head. Additional duties may include logistics, material, and safety responsibilities.
Clearance Required: Must be a US Citizen with an Active Secret Clearance
Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Direct, oversee repair activities, train, troubleshoot, diagnose, and maintain the following systems: Consolidated Afloat Networks and Enterprise Services (CANES) AN/USQ-144 Automated Digital Network Systems (ADNS) AN-USQ-53 Integrated Shipboard Network Systems (ISNS) AN/USQ-185 Combined Enterprise Regional Information Exchange Systems (CENTRIXS) Computer Network Defense Operating Systems (CND) Naval Information Application Product Suite (NIAPS) Naval Tactical Command Support System (NTCSS) AN/UYQ-96 Host Based Security System (HBSS) Red Hat Enterprise Linux Operating Systems Cisco Network Switches LAN and WAN Switches Provide technical support for procurement, installation, at-sea testing, preventive/corrective maintenance, and lifecycle management of systems. Interpret technical manuals, apply repair standards, and maintain accurate technical documentation.
Additional Qualifications/Responsibilities
Required Education, Skills, and Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent, Associated Navy "A" School. 4+ years of related experience with shipboard CANES systems and associated systems. Proficient in troubleshooting and maintaining systems. Strong technical comprehension with the ability to read and interpret manuals and standards. Effective communication skills and ability to work with minimal supervision. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and related technical applications.
Preferred Education, Skills, and Experience: OSHA 10 CPR
Physical Demands and Expectations: Able to travel 10%. Regular physical activity, including walking, climbing stairs, and standing; frequent periods of prolonged sitting may be required. Ability to work in an industrial shipboard/shipyard environment, climb shipboard ladders and wear all required safety equipment. Able to lift (up to 50lb), carry, and transport heavy equipment and materials required for the job. Able to meet U.S. Navy ship rider requirements. Maneuvering around tight spaces in a shipboard environment Ability to speak, read, hear, and write, with or without assistance. Ability to use phone and computer systems, copier, fax, and other office equipment.
