Your Opportunity:
The Herff Jones IT Team is seeking a highly skilled and motivated M365 Systems Engineer to join our Infrastructure Services - SSGWin Team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, implementation, optimization, and governance of the organization's Microsoft 365 and Entra (Azure AD) environments. This role will collaborate closely with Systems Engineers, the Intune Administrator, the CTG Desktop Support team, and the Security team to maintain a secure, stable, and efficient collaboration ecosystem. The position will also contribute to automation initiatives and workflow integrations across our ITSM and RMM platforms.

Key Responsibilities:
M365 / Entra Administration Serve as the primary engineer for the hybrid Entra ID and Microsoft 365 environment. Design, implement, and manage Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Teams, and related M365 services to ensure optimal performance and uptime. Manage user lifecycle processes-account provisioning, permissions, access controls, and license assignments-aligned with governance and compliance standards. Configure and secure Enterprise Applications and App Registrations in Entra. Oversee conditional access, authentication policies, and integration of third-party services. Implement and manage monitoring solutions for availability, performance, and security. Security, Compliance, and Governance
Collaborate with the Security Team to implement and maintain M365/Entra security baselines, MFA, Conditional Access, and Identity Protection policies. Ensure adherence to legal, regulatory, and internal compliance requirements (e.g., NIST, SOC2, CIS). Participate in incident response and investigation related to M365/Entra systems. Conduct periodic access reviews, auditing, and documentation of system configurations. Collaboration & Support
Work cross-functionally with Systems Engineers to maintain hybrid Exchange and directory synchronization environments. Support the Intune Administrator with device compliance and endpoint policy alignment as needed. Partner with the CTG Desktop Support team to resolve escalated M365-related end-user issues. Serve as an internal subject matter expert (SME) for Microsoft collaboration tools and provide guidance or training as needed. Communicate changes, updates, and new feature releases to internal IT teams and stakeholders. Automation & Integration
Develop, test, and maintain workflow automations and Power Automate or PowerShell scripts to improve efficiency within ITSM and RMM platforms. Support integration of M365 data with other enterprise systems for enhanced visibility and automation. Assist in the design and deployment of process automation and self-service solutions for common IT requests. Documentation & Continuous Improvement
Maintain comprehensive documentation of configurations, policies, and standard operating procedures. Monitor Microsoft 365 roadmaps and release notes to anticipate and plan for upcoming changes. Evaluate emerging tools and technologies that enhance productivity, collaboration, or security. What You Will Bring to the Table:
Required Qualifications:
3-5 years of experience administering Microsoft 365 / Entra environments in a mid-to-large enterprise. Strong understanding of Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive, and Entra ID. Experience managing hybrid directory synchronization (Azure AD Connect) and group-based access control. Proficiency with PowerShell scripting for automation and administration. Working knowledge of Conditional Access, MFA, App Registrations, and Security Defaults. Familiarity with Microsoft Purview / Compliance Center and auditing capabilities. Excellent documentation, communication, and cross-team collaboration skills. Preferred Qualifications:
Experience integrating with ITSM (e.g., Jira, ServiceNow, HaloITSM) and RMM tools (e.g., NinjaOne, ConnectWise). Knowledge of Power Automate, Logic Apps, or similar workflow automation platforms. Microsoft Certifications such as MS-102: Microsoft 365 Administrator, AZ-104, or SC-300. Experience in environments governed by NIST, CIS, or SOC2 frameworks. Soft Skills:
Strong problem-solving and analytical mindset. Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. Collaborative and proactive attitude with a focus on continuous improvement. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
