Position Summary

Works under general supervision to performrepair and maintenance work and perform other generalized duties in theoperations of county facilities.

PayGrade: 47H

Minimum Qualifications

1. Two (2) years ofexperience as a maintenance mechanic; AND

2. High school diploma or possess a GED.

3. PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAINING AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED.

Duties andResponsibilities

1. Performs various general maintenance and/or mechanical duties as theyrelate to the specific position.

2. Replaces defective electrical switches and other fixtures.

3. Paints walls, floors, woodwork and fixtures of buildings, using sprayguns and brushes.

4. Repairs and replaces gauges, valves, pressure regulators and open cloggeddrains using plumber's tools.

5. Replaces and repairs brick and plaster walls.

6. Keepsrecords and makes reports.

7. Makesminor plumbing, mechanical, electrical and carpentry repairs.

8. Makesor repairs counters, benches, partitions, using appropriate tools.

9.Assists higher skilled maintenance personnel.

10.Performs other related duties as required or directed.

KSAs

1. Advanced knowledge ofcommon practices, methods and materials for maintenance of buildings andconstruction work.

2. Ability to work tactfully and courteously with others.

3.Ability to complete reports and requisitions.

4.General knowledge of wood and metal tools and instruments and their maintenanceand use.

Physical Requirements

Must pass a physical examination.

Special Requirements

1. Must be able to function in a prison environment.

2. Must have a valid Tennessee driver's license or secureone by date of employment.

3. Must be able to work all shifts, weekends, and on-call,as required.

4. Must successfully pass a drug test.
