Position Summary
This role ensures the accurate production of compounded sterile preparations, compliance with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), and adherence to quality standards. The Supervisor of Sterile Compounding fosters teamwork, professional growth, and operational excellence to support Empower's mission of delivering quality, affordable medications.
Duties and Responsibilities
Oversees production of compounded sterile preparations, ensuring compliance with cGMP, master formula worksheets, and standard operating procedures. Operates and monitors production equipment, prepares work areas, and ensures accurate documentation to maintain quality standards. Supervises team compliance with cleaning, garbing, and safety protocols while fostering collaboration and professional growth. Evaluates employee performance, provides coaching, and prepares performance reviews to support team development. Collaborates with the department director on staffing needs, participates in hiring, and ensures production schedules are met. While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to talk and hear. The employee is often required to remain in a stationary position for a significant amount of the workday and frequently use their hands and fingers to handle or feel in order to access, input, and retrieve information from the computer and other office productivity devices. The employee is regularly required to move about the office and around the corporate campus. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
Knowledge and Skills
Exceptional attention to detail, self-motivation, and strong leadership abilities to effectively manage and inspire teams while fostering a collaborative and goal-oriented work environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook), fundamental mathematical skills, and the capability to gown in aseptic garb for extended periods to ensure compliance and precision in sterile compounding operations. Minimum of 3 years of experience in sterile compounding within a pharmaceutical or healthcare environment, including at least 1 year in a leadership or supervisory role. Associate degree or equivalent experience required. Registered with the Texas Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician and Sterile/Intravenous Certified by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education.
