JOB TITLE: ELECTRICAL ENGINEER I
DEPARTMENT: ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING
REPORTS TO:
SENIOR ELECTRICAL ENGINEER CLASSIFICATION: EXEMPT
JOB SUMMARY Under direct supervision, the Electrical Engineer will support the design of electrical systems for aircraft installations and work on a diverse set of Aerospace projects from rapid modification of aircraft.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Assist other Senior Engineers with electrical schematics and harness diagrams of UAV and the ground station. Provide support for COTS avionics interconnections to the baseline electrical systems. Responsible for maintaining and updating the custom avionics technical data packages. Responsible for the aircraft power budget (generation capacity vs power draw). Creation of manufacturing and integration technical data packages, such as schematics, bill of materials, and manufacturing instructions. Work alongside with other electrical engineers for requested changes to the baseline design. Review and plan requested feature additions or changes to the electrical system, including estimating schedule, budget, and tasking. Coordinate with team leads from Mechanical, Aerospace, and Software departments to reach a consensus Coordination with mechanical and electrical technicians for integration of harnesses and new payloads, within responsibility of TDP development and post-installation test verifications. Coordination with quality assurance for sign-off of design and work quality. Planning and execution of electrical systems tests toward FAA or DoD aircraft standards. Propose recommendations of electrical system changes within provided technical roadmap and strategy documents. Other duties as assigned and/or required. BASIC REQUIREMENTS Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Computer Science, or other field with relevant electrical engineering experience 0-2 years of professional experience in software development for system level integration and testing Familiar with debugging PCBs, electrical systems. Ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Master's degree in electrical or computer engineering 1+ years' experience with circuit board design, testing (unit level testing) 1-2 years of experience with electronic components, wire harnesses, and test instrumentation e.g. oscilloscopes, power supplies Experience working with robotic systems, UAVs Professional experience working with sensors, IMUs, optical Experience with firmware development. Familiarity with 3D CAD (SolidWorks or similar) Experience with MATLAB, Python, LabView and National Instruments Systems Experience with interface such as SPI, I2C, CAN, GPIB, and USB. Understanding design and functional requirement of hardware in varying environment such as vibration, atmospheric temperature changes. Self-drive with strong documentation, organizational and communication skills. Ability to work in a fast paced, autonomously drive, and demanding environment.
