Qualifications: Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the components of a comprehensive developmental counseling program, child growth and development, strategies for effective career and educational planning, learning assessment and diagnosis, research related to learning, and the resources available in the school and community to assist secondary students Exhibit enthusiasm and sensitive interpersonal skills to relate well with students, staff, administration, parents, and the community Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills Ability to work effectively with students, parents, and educators Knowledge of crisis intervention strategies and resources Broad knowledge of testing and evaluation, theories of individual and group counseling techniques, secondary school counseling program design, and career educational information and placement Experience managing student database systems Experience working with at-risk students Minimum experience as determined by the board Requirements:
Valid New Jersey Instructional Certificate: School Counselor endorsement or eligibility required Required criminal history background check, fingerprinting and proof of U.S. Citizenship or legal resident alien status
