Responsible for the daily activities within the supply procurement process, including the procurement of stock and non-stock supplies, equipment and services, review of contracts, communicating with vendors and internal hospital employees, assisting in the maintenance of inventory records and Materials Management Information Systems integrity and researching/resolving Accounts Payable inquiries. Must identify opportunities for and contribute to the improvement of quality, safety and cost, as well as, patient, customer and employee satisfaction.

Standard Work Duties: Purchasing Assistant Actively participates in team development, achieving dashboards, and in accomplishing department goals and objectives. Initiates purchase orders for stock and non-stock supplies, equipment and services through inventory, contact with department personnel and vendors. Assists in maintaining inventory records and Materials Management Information System integrity, including correct pricing on item files, shipments and resolving discrepancies related to procurement issues. Verify supplies received and stock product in designated bin locations. Perform routine clerical duties such as filing, faxing, and answering the departmental phone calls concerning inquiries on order status of product. Assists staff in locating product Provide follow-up status on back-ordered items to requesting coordinators/department staff members Research and resolve correct pricing and other patient billing office product issues. Assumes accountability for personal and professional growth and development of one's own potential, including participation in activities that promote patient care and safety. Assumes responsibility and accountability for acquiring information that is essential to the successful performance of duties and responsibilities.
