Senior Desktop Support Technician

Full time, 12 month position

JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for providing advanced technical support, maintenance, and administration of desktop systems, servers, and related infrastructure. Work with Desktop Support Technicians to troubleshoot advanced issues. The technician should possess a strong background in desktop support, server operations, and a commitment to ensuring a reliable and secure technology environment within an educational setting. This technician also must be prepared to meet deadlines, report to the director on project status, and make recommendations for network and standalone improvements/repairs.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Degree from accredited technical school or equivalent experience in a technology field desired A+, Network+, MCP Certifications OR the ability to attain certifications within 12 months Demonstrated strong hands-on experience with servers and clients running Windows Server 2019/2022 and clients running Windows 10/11 3-5 years of experience installing hardware & software 3-5 years of experience maintaining a network infrastructure Knowledge of best practice usage of Microsoft services such as Hyper-V, DNS, DHCP, DFS, GPO, Printing, NTFS shares, WSUS, & Office 365 Knowledge of applications such as Google Docs, enterprise anti-virus, enterprise backup solutions, MDM, enterprise imaging and software packaging Such alternative qualifications as the Board of Education may find appropriate and acceptable

REPORTS TO : Director of Technology

SALARY : $60,000

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: The Senior Desktop Support Technician is a twelve-month employee who works the custodial calendar as adopted by the Board of Education. Terms and conditions of employment and benefits are in accordance with the negotiated agreement.

EVALUATION:

Job performance is evaluated annually by the Director of Technology.

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide senior-level desktop support to end-users, troubleshooting hardware and software issues in a timely and efficient manner. Assist with the development and maintenance of standard desktop and laptop builds to be deployed throughout the school district. This includes disk image creation and deployment. Install, configure, and maintain desktop operating systems and applications. Collaborate with end-users to provide training and guidance on technology usage. Maintain all Active Directory user accounts and distribution lists for network and email system. Deliver, unpack, configure and install desktop, notebook, tablet, servers/appliances and networking equipment. Manage and maintain servers, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and security. Ability to recognize the potential for or existing networking issues such as switching and routing issues and escalate accordingly. Install software as per district procedures and vendor licensing agreements. Monitor server logs and proactively address issues to minimize downtime. Preview and evaluate new hardware and software and make recommendations for changes or upgrades to ensure district technologies are both effective and highly available. Communicate with teachers, administrators, and support staff on recently implemented technologies and their usage/functions. Implement and enforce security best practices to protect the integrity of systems and data. Stay informed about cybersecurity threats and assist in the development of security policies and procedures. Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of hardware, software, and network configurations. Generate reports on system performance, incidents, and resolutions. Collaborate with other IT team members to address complex technical issues and projects. Remain current on industry trends in information technology and investigate new technologies. Service and troubleshooting of district walkie talkie devices. Basic troubleshooting of camera software. Provide security video footage as requested. Basic troubleshooting of door access hardware. Assist in the troubleshooting of all district physical security hardware. Maintain department hardware inventory. Other duties as assigned by the Director of Technology and/or Superintendent.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to lift and/or carry supplies and/or papers weighing no more than 50 lbs.
