FISS Liaison Summary:

The FISS Liaison will specialize in working directly with district leaders, schools, families, students and the community to cultivate the Family Institute for Student Success (FISS). FISS is an opportunity to create a parent educational pathway to empower parents and families to feel connected to the school and to their child's educational journey. The FISS Liaison will represent NBPS in a positive manner and will implement FISS throughout the district yearly. Responsibilities:

Work in partnership with the Wraparound Manager to develop the FISS program and organize the delivery of FISS classes throughout the district. Train and organize recruiters to make personalized phone calls, reminders, and recovery calls to families participating in FISS. Recruit new FISS facilitators yearly and organize FISS Facilitator trainings to ensure the appropriate numbers of NBPS staff are trained to implement FISS throughout the district. Facilitators should represent the population of New Bedford and should include staff with multiple language capacities. Maintain accurate records of NBPS staff trained to recruit and facilitate FISS. Develop and sustain a database of parents and caregivers who have attended and completed FISS. Prepare the curriculum and handouts for families for each FISS session at each school. Ensure the curriculum and deliverables are prepared in appropriate languages and are up to date with current information. Meet with facilitators and provide guidance bi-weekly while FISS classes are in session. Connect with FISS families and school principals to organize Principal Dialogue sessions for each FISS course. Send weekly reminders to FISS facilitators about collecting attendance while FISS is in session. Review weekly attendance and track data. Coordinate and provide surveys for FISS families at the end of each session. All survey data should then be translated and presented to Principals and the district at the end of each session. Organize and oversee each FISS graduation by creating the certificates, graduation books, agendas, student speeches, parent speeches, principal and administrator speeches, catering, souvenirs, etc. Prepare FISS final report and send to Principals and the district at the completion of each session. An overall FISS report should also be completed at the end of each school year to show data from all FISS sessions throughout the school year. Prepare data presentations for district leadership and the community regarding the impact of FISS. Maintain accurate data records to show yearly growth. Collaborate with departments throughout the district and external partners to provide content-based and research-based professional development for district staff. Attend community events/festivals/meetings/workshops facilitated by schools, and community organizations that help drive family engagement and recruit families for FISS. Develop a network database of stakeholders, community leaders, business owners, and parents that will provide support to district initiatives and further FISS opportunities. Qualifications:

Experience in program management and workshop delivery strongly preferred. Strong knowledge of the New Bedford community preferred. Additional language capacity in Spanish, Portuguese, or K'iche' preferred. Previous exposure to or experience in the K-12 education sector a plus. Previous exposure to or experience in adult learning and/or professional development projects a plus. Previous experience in family engagement that drives student achievement strategies. Thorough knowledge of types of methods of engaging parent/community in school activities. Demonstrated experience and success in maintaining and expanding organizational relationships.
