Position Maintenance Technician

Hourly wage $28.50 - $31.50
Job Summary :
Under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor, it provides front line technical and mechanical support to manufacturing. Works independently or with others to complete assigned tasks in a safe and professional manner. Ability to troubleshoot and identify component failures and perform appropriate repairs. Performs equipment installations, modifications, preventative maintenance, and overhauls of plant equipment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Troubleshoot electrical and controls circuits from 24vdc to 480vac. Ability to work in confined spaces or at elevated heights using ladders, personnel lifting equipment, and catwalks. Operates plant overhead hoist and other rigging equipment to lift, crib, move, rotate, or invert equipment to maintain or repair. Provides support to outside contractors as needed. Diagnoses electrical/mechanical equipment malfunctions and performs corrective maintenance. Performs preventive maintenance on all types of mechanical/electrical/electronic equipment. Understands roll and die maintenance requirements and coordinates with Extrusion personnel. General understanding of motor mechanics and Variable Speed Drives. Installs new equipment; runs conduit; pulls wire; identifies and terminates wire to respective equipment, etc. (position, level, anchor and square to adjacent equipment). Tests on electrical circuits to ensure compatibility and safety of components using test equipment. Installs controls and distribution apparatus such as switches, relays, circuit breakers, wiring, etc. Install pipes and tubing for compressed air, hydraulics, pneumatics process vacuum and material conveying. Fabricates items using basic shop tools (grinder, band saw, drill press, welders). Works from drawings, sketches, and verbal instructions. Follows lock out/tag out procedures as required. Observes newly installed equipment to evaluate system performance under actual operation conditions adjusting when and where required, also checking for proper guarding. Exercise fire equipment and maintain the process water and degassing system. Provides backup support for other maintenance staff as needed. Help with Engineering on request. Participates with others in team improvement projects and activities.
