About the job:
The Shift Manager is responsible for all hiring, training, scheduling, and supervision of Shift Staff. The Shift Manager is responsible for the oversight of resident supervision, sanitation, food service, and health and safety requirements. Provides assigned back-up services in the areas of shift supervision, case management, and housekeeping.

Job Responsibilities:
Select, train and evaluate all assigned staff; provide adequate coverage for all shift; develop and oversees training plans for all assigned staff.
Ensure all Bureau of Prisons and VOAMN policies and procedures are adhered to by Shift Staff:
Resident activities are properly logged by Shift Staff in the automated case management system
Sign-in and sign-out procedures are followed
Urinalyses are conducted in accordance with schedules and specimens are handled correctly
Medications are dispensed as indicated
Assume full responsibility for food service - e.g. selecting menus, and ordering proper amounts of food
Take finger prints for resident identity verification and employee, volunteer, and intern criminal background checks
Systematically monitor compliance with all health and safety standards; take corrective action when required and report all results to the Program Manager.
Inspect all safety equipment and devices and report results. Perform room inspections and take corrective action as appropriate. Perform random checks in rooms and other areas of the building for contraband control.
Check sanitation, equipment furnishings of all rooms vacated by departing residents.
Assist Case management staff in the collection, itemization and disposal of personal property of residents who are abruptly terminated.
Oversee all equipment and supply inventories and orders.
Audit all resident check out/in files; take corrective action where needed; report results to Program Manager.
Maintain general staff accountability of all logs. Conduct monthly fire drills.
Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
High School Diploma; College Degree preferred.
Experience leading and managing employee groups.
Corrections experience - 3 years preferred
