Position Specific Description

The Forecasting Analyst position is within the Load Forecasting team in FPL's Financial Forecasting group, located in Juno Beach, FPL. The Forecasting Analyst will work with the Load Forecasting team in developing, analyzing, and communicating the Customer, Energy Sales, and Peak Demand forecasts which are the basis for FPL's financial and strategic planning processes. Other responsibilities include supporting the monthly and quarterly financial reporting processes as well as providing support for ad hoc requests.

The work is complex in nature. This position requires data analysis and creative problem-solving skills along with excellent attention to detail. This position also requires strong written communications skills because the Analyst will support the development of written communications that will be sent to Senior Executives and External Stakeholders, such as the Florida Public Service Commission.

Job Overview

This job is responsible for supporting the development of FPL's Customer, Energy Sales, and Peak Demand forecasts, analyzing and reporting actuals versus forecast, and providing support for ad hoc requests.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

Supports the development and analysis of Customer, Energy Sales, and Peak Demand forecasts using econometric and/or statistical models

Monitors and analyzes load forecast accuracy, creates transparency into drivers causing load forecast errors, and performs load forecast variance reporting

Supports the development of solutions to improve the performance of the forecasts

Supports the monthly and quarterly financial reporting processes and provide support to various groups such as Accounting and Investor Relations

Prepares presentations and reports for management and regulatory entities

Supports automation efforts to improve internal processes

Participates in regulatory working groups and provides analytical support for filings and proceedings with agencies such as the FPSC, SERC, and FRCC

Collaborates across departments to support company-wide initiatives, facilitate cross-functional requests, and serve as a finance representative in operational working group as needed

Performs ad hoc analyses and other job-related duties as assigned

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Finance, Economics, or other relevant fields of study

Master's Degree

Relevant working experience

Expertise using Excel and SQL

Familiarity with financial or statistical software, such as SAP, UI, MetrixND, or EViews

Job Duties & Responsibilities

Researches and proposes new data sources and methods of analysis

Analyzes accuracy and effectiveness of load profiles and recommend improvements

Identifies causes for load forecast errors outside of the target range and develop solutions to improve performance

Develops and prepares long term and/or short term forecasting models

Monitors and analyzes load forecast accuracy, creates transparency into drivers causing load forecast errors, and performs load forecast variance reporting

Handles varied and complex projects and analysis

Prepares presentations and reports for management

Identifies and correct customers with significant load forecasting anomalies

Leads efforts to review and validate data inputs into the long-term forecasting model and works with cross-functional teams to correct data errors in source systems

Supports automation efforts to import all data into load forecasting system

Performs other job-related duties as assigned
