Position Description

The Dean of the College of Education and Behavioral Sciences (CEBS) provides direct supervision and strategic leadership for the CEBS and supports the Office of the Provost in selected areas of the University's academic operation. Reporting to the Provost, the Dean works collaboratively with the faculty, staff, administration, board, students, alumni, and community partners to achieve the strategic goals of the university and college. By Faculty Handbook policy, this position carries faculty status. Position Responsibilities

Actively pursues and nurtures CEBS relationships with strategic partners. Annually reviews the Faculty Handbook. Appoints Department Chairs with advice from and consent of the Provost/VPAA. Collaborates with the CTLT to ensure orientation of all new faculty and adjunct faculty. Coordinates college's interoffice relationships with all non-college University offices and centers. Demonstrates sound fiscal management and empirically-based decision making in all activities, including but not limited to program development, human resources, budget allocations, and facilities planning. Develops, implements, and assesses for improvement all appropriate unit-level strategic plans. Drives and manages innovation in EU's new and existing academic programs and teaching modalities. Ensures continuing improvements in teaching and learning outcomes through a robust cycle of student learning assessment. Ensures that Education and Behavioral Science programs deliver both academic and practical experiences for students. Fosters an environment in which scholarship, teaching, and learning are adequately resourced and creatively pursued in all academic programs. In collaboration with University Development, ensures that the college and its programs are engaged with college alumni. Manages invoices, credit card reconciliations, and all financial and administrative documentation as needed by supervisor. Monitors and distributes assessment data appropriately and uses the results in the annual planning process. Participates in graduation exercises as required and appropriate. Pursues and facilitates all aspects of fundraising, including grant and report writing, in support of unit/college programs, vision, and mission. Remains competent and current in all relevant compliance areas, including Federal and State regulations and regional and special accreditations. Remains competent and current in the higher education industry through self-directed study, professional relationships, and participation in appropriate training, conferences, and courses. Understands and follows FERPA regulations. Qualifications

Academic credentials suitable for an administrative role in higher education or evidence or comparable experience. At least three years of administrative experience in higher education or evidence of comparable experience. Competence (or ability and willingness to acquire competence) with e-learning tools and software platforms. Demonstrated capacity for integrity, honesty, and principled behavior. Demonstrated commitment to the principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion in teaching, scholarship, service, and administration. Excellent listening, verbal, and written communication skills. Experience working with and in support of diverse populations. Has a solid grasp of the context of higher education and, ideally, of Christian higher education. Proven administrative skills and success. Record of teaching, professional development/scholarly work, and service to warrant faculty rank of at least Associate Professor. Schedule flexibility for weekend hours and travel. Strong analytical skills and financial acumen. Other Qualifications:

Adequate typing skills (minimum 50 words per minute). Comfortable with using and managing electronic mail. Competence in Desktop Software (MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Email, etc.). Current valid driver's license or adequate means of transportation. Enthusiastically endorses and signs Eastern University's Doctrinal Statement. Adjunct faculty may be eligible for medical coverage under the ACA after an annual one year lookback review.

Part-time staff who are scheduled to work less than 30 hours per week schedule are eligible for employer contribution towards the retirement plan after one year of employment. Eligibility rules apply. Adjunct faculty may make employee deferral contributions towards the retirement plan.

Part-Time Graduate Assistant Coaches are eligible for participation in the Tuition Remission Coaches Program.

Temporary, Contractors and Seasonal Employees: Individuals in this status are scheduled on an as-needed-basis and are not eligible for participation in the University's benefits programs.
