Objective Operate bench test equipment to validate and repair railroad electronic, computer, and electrical systems

Perform componentlevel repairs using both power and hand tools

Carry out automated and manual testing on circuit boards and electronic equipment under the supervision of the Electronic Work Center Supervisor

Adhere strictly to safety standards (electrical, mechanical, CFC)

Use Microsoft Office (including Access) for reporting and analysis

Log work and track tasks in SAP

Train and support other technicians on shop processes, safety, and best practices

Advise Technical Engineers or Shop Supervisors on technical issues and process improvements

Responsibilities & Accountabilities

Comply with established safety protocols in the Technical Work Center and at the New Castle facility

Validate, troubleshoot, and repair electronic, electrical, and computer equipment from multiple shop areas

Perform componentlevel circuit board repairs, soldering, wiring, and connector work

Operate, maintain, and calibrate electronic test equipment

Document failures, write repair reports, record data, and interpret failure logs

Assist in creating or updating electronic, electrical, and mechanical schematics or drawings

Work in an ESD (electrostatic discharge) controlled environment

Help build and repair bench test setups

Use compressed air, pneumatic tools, and precision measuring devices

Operate test instruments (oscilloscopes, voltmeters, meggers, chart recorders, high-voltage DC/AC power supplies)

Safely operate power tools (drills, chop saws, grinders, etc.) and hand tools (wire crimpers, torque wrenches, etc.)

Repair 120/240 VAC systems

Work hands-on with operating systems (DOS, Windows) and use Microsoft Office (especially Excel); understand basic LON communications

Consult with and support Technical Engineers and Shop Supervisors on daily technical decisions

Train peers and junior technicians on product repairs, data entry, Alstom processes, and safety standards

Enforce the proper use of PPE and coach others on safety compliance

Education & Certification Requirements

High School Diploma (required)

Two- to fouryear degree in electronics or equivalent military electronics training (preferred)

Experience Mandatory Experience with electronic testing and repair

Proficiency using schematics, oscilloscopes, multimeters, and related tools to troubleshoot equipment at the component level

Desirable Exposure to rolling stock maintenance

Understanding of safety management systems and risk assessments

Solid grasp of electronic principles, circuit design, and testing methodologies
