Human Services Benefit Program Supervisor The City of Alexandria is located in northern Virginia and is bordered by the District of Columbia (Potomac River), Arlington and Fairfax counties. With a population of approximately 150,000 and a land area of 15.75 square miles, Alexandria is the seventh largest city in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Human Services Benefit Program Supervisor
position. An Overview
The work includes managing all program operations of the Virginia Initiative for Education and Work (VIEW), the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Employment and Training (SNAP-ET) Program, and Family Services for the Department of Community and Human Services (DCHS). VIEW is a TANF-funded initiative that provides employment, education, and training services to help participants develop skills, gain work experience, and secure sustainable employment.
The position supervises Employment & Training Specialists (ETS) to ensure delivery of comprehensive employment services, including career planning and counseling, educational and training activities, internships, vocational evaluation, job readiness training, job search assistance, job development and placement, and planning/execution of employment recruitments and career fairs. The manager also ensures program oversight and compliance with federal and state policies, develops partnerships to enhance program outcomes, and ensures that programs meet local, state, and federal performance targets. Additionally, the position supervises Family Services Specialists who support VIEW and SNAP-ET clients with childcare, emergency, and other social service needs impacting employment goals.
