Overview

A well-established and growing general contractor is seeking an experiencedAssistant Project Manager (APM) to join its team and support active commercial projects throughout the West Coast. This position is best suited for individuals who are organized, detail-focused, and thrive in fast-paced construction environments.

You'll work closely with Project Managers and Superintendents to ensure all project documentation, coordination, and communication run efficiently from preconstruction through closeout. This role is an excellent stepping stone toward becoming a Project Manager. Key Responsibilities Partner with Project Managers and Superintendents to coordinate daily project activities and logistics. Manage submittals, RFIs, shop drawings, and change orders, ensuring all documentation is tracked, reviewed, and properly logged. Maintain accurate and organized project files using Procore or comparable project management software. Review and distribute design documents while ensuring compliance with project requirements and specifications. Track material lead times, delivery schedules, and project progress updates. Assist in managing subcontractor coordination, scheduling, and weekly project reporting. Support billing, compliance, and permitting documentation to ensure accurate recordkeeping. Participate in project meetings, document discussions, and communicate key updates to the field and office teams. Contribute to project closeout by preparing final documentation, punch lists, and warranty materials. Uphold safety and quality standards across all assigned projects. Qualifications 4 years of experience in construction project coordination, assistant project management, or a field-based supervisory role. Proficiency with Procore, Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook), and digital document management systems. Working knowledge of RFI and submittal processes and experience coordinating with designers, engineers, and subcontractors. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications. Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills. Familiarity with commercial tenant improvement (TI), retail, or fuel station construction is preferred. Self-motivated, proactive, and capable of handling multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
