Job Summary:
An Accounts Payable Specialist is responsible for managing and processing the organization's accounts payable, ensuring that invoices are accurate and that payments are made promptly. This role requires a high level of attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Essential Functions:
Receive, review, and verify invoices for accuracy and appropriate approvals. Code invoices, set up new vendor accounts, and enter invoice data into the accounting system. Resolve discrepancies between invoices, purchase orders, and receipts. Prepare electronic transfers and payments. Perform check runs and ensure timely payment of invoices. Reconcile vendor statements and correct any discrepancies. Communicate with vendors regarding account status and payment schedules. Address and resolve any issues related to invoices and payments with vendors. Maintain positive relationships with vendors and ensure compliance with company policies. Maintain accurate and organized records of all accounts payable transactions. Assist in month-end and year-end closing processes, including accruals and reconciliations. Prepare accounts payable reports and summaries for management review. Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures related to accounts payable. Assist in the development and implementation of accounts payable policies and procedures. Competencies:

May direct the work of clerical employees in lower job classifications. May assist in training newly hired clerks and secretaries. Work Environment:
This job operates in a professional office setting. This role routinely uses standard equipment. Physical Demands:
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times. Required Education/Experience/Certifications:
Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in accounts payable or a related accounting role.
