Primary Purpose of the Role

The Quality Assurance Technician position will be key in supporting the HGI efforts to build on and improve its current level of quality in the marketplace. Overall support of product quality and process improvement initiatives is critical in this position.

Essential Job Duties

Supports the Quality Assurance Manager on the development and enforcement of raw material standards, inspections of raw/ finished goods, product returns, and train/assist in processes to review and conduct/review internal audits. Responsible for tracking and entering reject raw material information. Provides Quality Assurance Manager and Procurement with reject information. Helps to support any product testing to maintain accurate assessment of product quality characteristics. Work with plant personnel in setting up trials and report evaluations of new materials, processes and procedures. Work with the Quality Assurance Manager in establishing quality standards for all products and product attributes as well as investigating to resolve any complaints regarding quality and service. Assist with the development of common quality metrics, capture data and provide information by value stream. Key contributor in the preparation for third party audits. Engage in inspection and testing activities to ensure raw materials and products meet specified requirements. Plays a key role in achieving Food Safety objectives and support the development, implementation, maintenance and ongoing improvement of the SQF system Back up for the Quality Assurance Manager in his/her absence Follow and Maintain all Food Safety, GMP and HACCP Guidelines May cover various shifts as needed Required Skills and Abilities

Knows and understands good active listening skills and follow up skills. Clear concise communication both verbally and in writing to all levels within the organization, with both internal and external customers. Uses formal problem solving approaches, displays good judgment and professionalism. Demonstrates good decisions making. Ability to act independently and is self-directed. Able to recognize waste and size up opportunities for improvement in a lean manufacturing environment. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite. Experience in the paper or film converting or printing industry a plus. Other duties assigned as needed.
