About the Role:
The Melt Shop Supervisor plays a crucial role in overseeing the daily operations of the melt shop within the durable goods manufacturing sector. This position is responsible for ensuring that production goals are met while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and efficiency. The supervisor will lead a team of skilled workers, providing guidance and support to optimize performance and resolve any operational challenges. Additionally, the Melt Shop Supervisor will be involved in planning and coordinating production schedules, ensuring that resources are allocated effectively. Ultimately, the success of this role contributes to the overall productivity and profitability of the manufacturing facility.
Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent. Proven experience in a supervisory role within a manufacturing environment. Strong understanding of melt shop operations and safety standards. Preferred Qualifications:
3+ years' experience in comparable roles Familiar with safety procedures in a manufacturing industry Ability to manage employees Basic computer skills required Ability to operate heavy equipment required Responsibilities:
Ensure safe operations through proper execution of all procedures and programs Perform Safety Observations & Housekeeping (5S) Audits Manage scrap flow from receipt and inspection through charging into the Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) Determine alloy additions required to meet customer specifications at the Ladle Metallurgy Furnace (LMF) Monitor and participates in repairs of refractory at the EAF and in the steel transport ladles Ensure the safe flow of steel, raw materials, and re-usable items at the ingot teeming station Train, evaluate, direct, and discipline union team members Act as a liaison between the Melt Shop and the Engineering, Maintenance, Quality, HR, and Metallurgy departments Drives safety and ensures all employees
