Reports To: Director of Career Engagement and Employer Partnerships

Position Overview

The Associate Director of Career Engagement and Employer Partnerships plays a key role in delivering innovative career programming, engaging employers, and supporting students in achieving career readiness. This position focuses on coordinating events, promoting opportunities, and working directly with students to prepare them for internships, employment, and professional success. The Associate Director collaborates closely with the Director, Success Coaches, and academic departments to ensure every student is equipped with the skills and experiences needed to thrive after graduation.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and execute career development events, including workshops, employer visits, panels, and networking sessions.

• Promote career opportunities and programs through digital campaigns, student communications, and partnerships across campus.

• Work one-on-one with students to support résumé completion, interview preparation, and career planning.

• Assist in managing career readiness platforms such as Handshake and Big Interview to ensure student participation and employer engagement.

• Build and maintain relationships with employers and alumni partners to expand internship and job pipelines.

• Collaborate with Success Coaches and campus partners to integrate career development into the student experience.

• Collect and maintain data on student engagement and employment outcomes to support continuous improvement efforts.

• Contribute to new initiatives that strengthen LIU's visibility and partnerships in the New York City and regional job markets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred in Higher Education, Business, Counseling, or related field.

• 1-2 more years of experience in career services, student engagement, or related areas.

• Strong event planning, communication, and organizational skills.

• Demonstrated ability to connect with students and support their professional development.

• Experience with career management systems (e.g., Handshake, Big Interview) and student success tools preferred.

• Collaborative, creative, and student-centered professional with a passion for helping students achieve career success.
