About the role

Job Summary: The Director of Remote Operations and Compliance oversees the Remote Operations Control Center (ROCC), ensuring optimal performance, regulatory compliance, and efficient operations across RNWBL's renewable energy fleet, including wind, solar, and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). This customer-facing role serves as the primary escalation point for issues, acts as the CIP Senior Manager for both Generator Owner (GO) and Generator Operator (GOP) functions (including subcontracted GO services), and manages teams including the Control Room Supervisor and operators, Performance Program Manager and engineers, Lead SCADA Engineer, and Software Developer. The director will integrate an offshore service line into Engineering, provide level-one support for field personnel, offload repetitive tasks from the Performance Engineering team, and drive continuous improvement in operations and compliance. Travel may be required to RNWBL offices, power plants, and customer locations.

Leadership and Team Management

Oversee the Control Room, Performance Engineering, Maintenance Engineering, and Compliance teams, including hiring, firing, scheduling, and performance management. Mentor and guide the Performance Program Manager, Control Room Supervisor, Lead SCADA Engineer, Software Developer, and other team members to promote cross-team collaboration and alignment with contractual obligations. Integrate and manage an offshore service line into Engineering as a support function, acting as level-one support for field personnel and offloading repetitive tasks (e.g., data cleaning, basic reporting) from the Performance Engineering team to enhance service delivery. Operational Oversight and Continuous Improvement

Develop, maintain, and train staff on operational standards, procedures, policies, and best practices for operations, maintenance, and engineering. Coordinate with Asset Management, Plant Owners, and stakeholders to ensure optimal plant operations, including continuous improvement in operator logging, work order management, credential management, and scheduling. Oversee plant onboarding into the ROCC, ensuring seamless service delivery, compliance verification, and maintenance of plant information, documentation, and distribution to operational personnel. Provide guidance to development efforts across Performance Engineering, Maintenance Engineering, and Asset Management. Act as the customer escalation point for issues, maintaining relationships and forwarding ad-hoc data requests. Compliance Management

Serve as CIP Senior Manager, performing monthly compliance assessments, interfacing with third-party compliance vendors, and ensuring day-to-day adherence to NERC CIP requirements. Verify compliance capabilities during plant onboarding, track GO/GOP responsibilities, and coordinate with field personnel for execution. Respond and coordinate in real-time to ongoing events to ensure compliance. Financial and Vendor Management

Manage the P&L for the entire Engineering and ROCC budget, auditing and approving external contracting costs for outsourced services. Oversee third-party services for field escalation support, ensuring costs remain controlled as the fleet grows. Coordinate with third-party security vendors for network implementation. Strategic Planning

Develop and coordinate the vision for technology enabling ROCC services. Negotiate availability and performance metrics in contracts, maintain templates for standard availability, and develop basic and premium offers for performance services. Develop KPIs and SOPs for ROCC, Performance Engineering, SCADA Engineering, and 3rd Party Vendors. Education

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field required (advanced degree preferred). Experience

Proven leadership in remote operations, compliance, or renewable energy sectors (solar, wind, BESS), with experience as a CIP Senior Manager or similar role. Demonstrated success in managing cross-functional teams, P&L responsibilities, and customer-facing escalations. Familiarity with NERC compliance, ROCC operations, and subcontracted GO/GOP services. Skills and Competencies

Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to juggle multiple tasks and remain calm under pressure. Analytical mindset for evaluating performance trends, risk management, and process improvement. Proficiency in tools like CMMS, ERP, SCADA, Excel, PowerBI; knowledge of Python/SQL is a plus. Certifications

NERC CIP certification or equivalent industry-relevant certification required. Physical Requirements
