Summary of position : The School Counselor is responsible for organizing and administering school counseling services for BCIU Alternative Education Programs with the primary intent of assisting every student solve his/her problems while also promoting growth of the individual in self-direction.

Job Responsibilities (see attached job description for additional details):

Counsel students on an individual basis at the elementary, middle school, and/or high school levels when referrals are made from administrators, teachers, parents, and/or community agencies. Counsel students on an individual basis at the assigned school levels in terms of academic, social, emotional, and vocational development. Conduct group counseling sessions as the need arises in the areas of personal, social, emotional, educational, and career development.

Qualifications:

Must hold a Master's Degree and be certified as a School Counselor. At least three years of experience in education or mental health counseling preferred. Must possess the personal qualifications for the development of desirable working relationships with people in the school and community. Must have excellent oral and written communication skills with youth and adults. Previous successful experience with children who demonstrate 'at risk' behaviors preferred.

Schedule: Part-Time Elementary School Counselor, Grades 3-5, Up to 20 students on caseload Experience in trauma informed practices, community and family supports, attendence plan and procedures, and group lessons prefered.

Salary:

Bachelor = $51,419 to $80,190 Bach+15 credits = $52,136 to $80,915 Bach+24 credits = $52,927 to $81,715 Masters = $62,870 to $92,455 Mast+15 credits = $63,563 to $93,155 Mast+30 credits = $64,255 to $93,855 Mast+45 credits = $65,641 to $95,255 Mast+60 credits = $66,877 to $96,505
