Position summary: JMT's Washington, D.C. office is looking for a Water Resources Design Engineer with 0-2 years of related design experience to be responsible for engineering design using knowledge of general engineering principles and practices to interpret, organize, execute, and coordinate assignments. Work will be conducted under the supervision of a registered professional engineer. Work will be located in the office but a hybrid work and home schedule is available.
Compensation is $35-45/hour, commensurate with experience, education, and certifications.

Essential functions and responsibilities
Analyze survey reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, aerial photography, field notes, and other topographical or geologic data to plan projects
Perform storm drainage, stormwater management, erosion and sediment control design, and computations
Perform watershed studies, hydrologic and hydraulic analysis, and design/inspection of traditional and innovative green stormwater infrastructure and SWM BMPs in both urban and rural environments
Design projects in accordance with client specifications and guidelines, using design software and drawing tools
Develop construction cost estimates
Assist in the preparation of engineering documents for advertisement and construction including engineering drawings, exhibits, and reports
Coordinate with internal team members to ensure project completion by the defined deadline and established quality
Nonessential functions and responsibilities
Perform other related duties as assigned
Required SkillsRequired Experience
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field from ABET accredited engineering program
0-2 years of related intern, co-op, or full-time work experience
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification
Experience working in a professional water resources engineering environment
Proficiency in discipline specific design software, including TR-55, TR-20, HY-8, FlowMaster, and/or HEC-RAS
Experience working with local clients at the county and state level
Experience in industry standard CAD software
Experience using Microsoft Office
Working Conditions
Work is performed within a general office environment 95% of the time. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.
Field work is required on occasion where work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Some lifting (up to 25lbs) may be required as needed.
