CONSTRUCTION PROJECT MANAGER
Headquartered in Austria, the Assmont Group is internationally recognized in the design, manufacturing, and installation of Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems (ASRS), with expanding operations across Europe, Australia, Canada, and the United States. Over the last decade, the Assmont Group has established a firm market presence in the United States and are looking to further expand operations in North America.
Assmont Steel USA Corporation is currently seeking a dynamic and experienced individual within the field of Construction Management. As an ASRS Project Manager within the racking industry, this individual will be responsible for managing the full lifecycle of the steel racking scope within ASRS projects – from order receipt to final handover. This role requires an extensive degree of autonomy, and the ideal candidate is a self-directed professional with exceptional interpersonal skills and an engineer’s mindset, capable of independently managing U.S.-based projects and developing practical solutions with minimal oversight.

JOB DESCRIPTION AND RESPONSIBILTIES Engineering & Design Management
Review client and system integrator specifications, load requirements and system interface drawings.
Coordinate with internal design teams to produce layout drawings, load requirements and system interface drawings.
Ensure compliance with applicable racking standards (FEM, EN, RMI and local building codes)
Manage Design approvals, technical clarifications, and drawing revisions in collaboration with internal design, system integrator and end user.
Procurement & Fabrication Oversight
Oversee procurement of racking materials and accessories according to approved designs and specifications.
Monitor fabrication schedules, quality checks, and dispatch readiness with the manufacturing plant.
Verify that materials are properly labeled, documented, and prepared for shipment to the project site.
Site Management & Installation
Lead and supervise the on-site racking installation team (internal or subcontracted).
Coordinate with site stakeholders to ensure safe and efficient work execution.
Manage installation sequencing, crane rail alignment, rack plumb and level tolerances, and integration readiness for automation equipment.
Conduct regular site inspections and quality checks throughout installation.
Ensure compliance with HSE (Health, Safety, and Environmental) standards and site safety rules. Quality Assurance & Handover
Conduct or oversee inspection and testing of the installed racking system.
Manage punch lists and ensure timely closeout of all outstanding items.
Prepare and submit as-built drawings, load certificates, installation records, and final documentation packages.
Support the integrator during commissioning stages where the racking interacts with automation systems.
Financial & Administrative Control
Track and report racking project costs, progress, and variations.
Prepare and review installation progress reports and invoicing documentation.
Manage change orders related to racking design modifications or scope adjustments.
Communication & Coordination
Serve as the primary point of contact for the system integrator regarding all racking-related matters.
Participate in coordination meetings and provide timely project status updates.
Ensure all project documentation and correspondence are properly recorded and communicated.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Ability to work autonomously and within a team
Willingness to travel nationally and overseas – up to 50% overnight travel required. Preliminary training period may require more domestic and international travel.
Strong technical and mathematical ability
Excellent organizational skills including project scheduling, documentation and coordination of multiple activities at once
Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills
Must be able to read and comprehend construction drawings and specifications
Strong negotiation skills
Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Project, and Excel-based reporting tools.
Must have a valid U.S. Passport
Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to operate a motorized vehicle
Strong knowledge of racking design and installation for ASRS applications (e.g., high-bay pallet racking, clad-rack buildings) is .
REQUIRED EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering / Construction Management or related field
EXPERIENCE:
3-5 Years of construction project management experience, or similar
WORKSITE LOCATION:
Hybrid role; remote work with domestic travel required up to 50% of the time. home base: Midwest (CST) or East Coast (EST)
WORK SCHEDULE:
Monday to Friday with occasional weekends COMPENSATION: $100,000 – $130,000 DOE
