In this position you will be apart of a team of designers and engineers in creating and delivering accurate FTTH network designs. This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise in

CAD and GIS , and a proven track record in fiber network engineering. The ideal candidate will balance hands-on design responsibilities with management duties, ensuring quality, efficiency, and alignment with company objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage the network design team, providing mentorship, training, and performance oversight.

Oversee the design and development of FTTH network layouts, including feeder, distribution, and drop fiber.

Utilize

CAD and GIS tools

to produce and review construction drawings, permit packages, and as-builts.

Establish and maintain design standards, workflows, and QA/QC processes.

Collaborate with field teams, survey crews, and permitting authorities to validate and approve designs.

Manage design schedules, deliverables, and resources to meet project deadlines.

Provide design clarifications and technical support to construction and operations teams.

Coordinate with executive leadership to align design outputs with company growth and deployment goals.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Telecommunications, or related field () or equivalent work experience.

5+ years of experience in fiber optic network design , with

2+ years in a leadership/management role .

Proficiency with

CAD software (AutoCAD, MicroStation, or similar) .

Strong experience with

GIS platforms (ESRI, QGIS, or similar) .

Solid understanding of FTTH design principles and industry standards (RUS, BICSI, NEC).

Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.

Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.

Skills

Experience with DOT permitting and utility coordination.

Familiarity with fiber network planning software and databases.

In-depth understanding of fiber construction methods (aerial and underground).
