Summary
The Supervisor of Maintenance Business Operations will directly manage staff responsible for state compliance management, parts warehouse management, custodial operations, and administrative tasks within a K-12 school district. This role is essential for ensuring that all operations run smoothly and efficiently, in compliance with relevant regulations and standards. The incumbent is on-call on a 24-hour basis for emergency operations.
Essential Duties
State Compliance Management: Oversees staff responsible for ensuring all maintenance activities comply with local, state, and federal regulations, including safety and environmental standards Parts Warehouse Management: Supervises the parts warehouse team, ensuring efficient inventory control, procurement, and distribution of maintenance supplies and equipment Custodial Operations: Manages custodial staff to ensure that all Maintenance facilities are clean, safe, and well-maintained Administrative Staff Management: Oversees administrative staff, ensuring efficient handling of documentation, billing, and other administrative tasks Coordination with Coordinator, Maintenance Business Operations: Works closely with the Coordinator, Maintenance Business Operations to align departmental goals and ensure smooth operations Training and Development: Implements training programs for staff to enhance their skills and ensure compliance with operational standards Performance Monitoring: Regularly evaluate staff performance, provide feedback, and implement improvement plans as necessary Reporting: Prepare and present reports on operational activities, compliance status, and other relevant metrics to the Coordinator Monitors departmental practices, supplies, and expenditures for efficient use of resources Practices and communicates FCS safety culture in the workplace Recommends competent personnel for open positions Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator Required Education
Bachelor's Degree in a related field or Equivalent experience (2 years of similar work level experience = 1 year of college-minimum of 8 years). A combination of experience and education may be used to meet the Bachelors Degree requirement
Certification/Licensure
Valid Driver License required Must be insurable with good driving record Facilities Management or related area preferred
Experience Qualifications
Minimum 3 years supervisory experience in maintenance operations and/or administrative related experience; Experience in K-12 schools
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Must have the skills to effectively lead, organize and direct the work of others Must have the capacity to understand and work with personnel under his/her supervision, as well as with administrative personnel Knowledge of compliance regulations and standards Proficiency in relevant software and tools for compliance, inventory, and administrative management Must be able to assist in the development and implementation of long-range planning Ability to develop, implement, monitor and evaluate program goals and initiatives Able to read and interpret schematic and construction drawings Good computer skills, including database creation and management Good decision-making and problem solving skills Excellent organizational and leadership skills Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Working Conditions
Normal office and school environment Construction work site and workshop environments Some exposure to weather including heat, cold, dampness, and/or humidity Occasional travel between school locations Physical Demands
Must be able to climb ladders and work from scaffolds Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and carry for short distances Must be able to stand, crouch, and climb to use ladders and perform various types of manual labor Exerting up to 100lbs force occasionally and/or up to 50lbs force frequently Exerting up to 20lbs force constantly Requires balancing, stooping, kneeling, bending, reaching, grasping, feeling, repetitive motions
