HOW YOU'LL CONTRIBUTE
We are seeking talented Data Scientists to enhance our Baseball Analytics and Baseball Sciences teams within the Baseball Operations Research and Development department. You will develop models and applications that guide critical baseball decisions. Your collaboration with the R&D team will focus on data processing pipelines, advanced analytical methods, and actionable insights that drive our organization's strategies. The right candidate will possess strong technical skills and the ability to turn complex data findings into clear recommendations.

THE DAY-TO-DAY
Develop robust data modeling pipelines that provide up-to-date insights on baseball metrics.
Conduct research to uncover new insights in your specialized domain.
Work closely with stakeholders to align research priorities and integrate quantitive models into decision-making processes.
Devise methods and models for player assessment, development, acquisition, and in-game tactics.
Assist in incorporating new technologies into our analytical frameworks.
Communicate findings through compelling reports, presentations, and visualizations.
Collaborate with the Baseball Systems team to embed statistical analyses and data visualizations into Cubs applications.
Create processes that identify and rectify data quality and model drift issues.
Address data and analysis requests from coaching staff and other Baseball Operations departments.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING
Proficiency in SQL and at least one language used in data analysis (e.g., Julia, MATLAB, Python, R).
A solid background in statistical modeling, machine learning, and data visualization.
Organizational and problem-solving prowess, complemented by a keen attention to detail.

Advanced degree and/or relevant experience in a quantitative field.
Exceptional communication skills, capable of translating technical jargon for non-technical audiences.

Prior experience or knowledge in baseball analytics and technology.
