Chief Engineer - Hotel

Position Overview:
Courtyard Ft. Lauderdale Airport & Cruise Hotel is seeking a detail-oriented and highly skilled Chief Engineer to oversee the maintenance and operations of all facilities within our establishment. The selected candidate will ensure a safe, efficient, and comfortable environment for both guests and staff, emphasizing excellence in hospitality service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and supervise all engineering personnel and develop a reliable maintenance team through coaching and leadership. - Oversee the installation, operation, and maintenance of Hotel facilities, including heating, ventilation, electrical, plumbing, refrigeration, and air conditioning. - Implement comprehensive maintenance programs to optimize equipment performance, improve energy efficiency, and reduce downtime. - Conduct regular property inspections to ensure compliance with safety standards, building codes, and regulations. - Develop and manage the engineering department's budget, ensuring cost-effective operations. - Coordinate with department heads to support daily hotel operations and address engineering concerns promptly. - Evaluate and implement sustainability initiatives to reduce the hotel's environmental impact. - Handle emergencies related to hotel technical systems or facilities with competence and efficiency. - Work closely with vendors, contractors, and suppliers to ensure high-quality standards and cost-effectiveness. - Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inventory, and equipment life cycles.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related field, or equivalent work experience. - Proven experience in a supervisory or management role within a hotel, resort, or similar environment. - Strong technical knowledge of hotel-related mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems. - Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure. - Familiarity with building automation systems and energy management platforms. - Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a customer-focused approach. - Certification or licensure in relevant technical areas is a plus.
